Tom and Jerry best cartoon of all time ?

Have to say I think I am the only person on the planet that doesn't find Tom and Jerry funny. Dangermouse was MUCH better but also much more British.

-

Tom and Jerry top favourite cartoon poll

Tom and Jerry have been voted the favourite cartoon characters of adults in the UK.

The long-running cat-and-mouse caper came tops in a poll to discover which animated shows grown-ups most enjoyed as children.

Scooby-Doo came second in the poll for the TV cartoon channel Boomerang, followed by Dangermouse, the only UK production to be named.

Dangermouse, featuring the eyepatch-wearing secret agent and his hamster sidekick Penfold, started out as a loose parody of James Bond and was the first British cartoon to break into the US TV market. Production stopped in 1992.

Top Cat, leader of a gang of Manhattan alley cats, came fourth, followed by The Flintstones in fifth place.

Bugs Bunny came sixth and Popeye seventh, says The Guardian.

The best cartoon was Akira (For Full-Length Feature Films).
For TV... Maybe Rescue Rangers, Shirt Tales, Transformers, GI Joe, ThunderCats, Duck Tales, Smurfs.

Tom and Jerry were OK but down the list a little for me.

My favorite cartoon show of all times was the 90 minute Saturday morning packaging of the Looney Toons shorts dubbed "The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show". I wouldn't care for an extended viewing of any single Loony Toons character, so for me I always consider them one entity

I'd also put the Flintstones and The Jetsons much higher on my list than T&J.

However, the Tom and Jerry comic books as a kid I loved those! I'd have to think long to remember if there were more than a couple of others I liked better than them.

(2) The Aadvark (I think this was more of a cult hit)
(3) The Flintstones
(4) Scooby Doo
(5) Thundercats (I used to love the "Brrrr-bing-brrrr-bing guy")
(6) Johnny Bravo (I still watch this and im in my thirties)
(7) Tom and Jerry
(8) Others I cant remember....

I'd tend to agree. Not much can top the Simpsons. Funny on the surface and brilliant social commentary when you dig deeper.

Tom and Jerry? You gotta be fucking kidding me - the country that gave the world Monty Python, hell even Benny Hill, rated that lame old cartoon as the best?

Warner Brothers both the old stuff with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck etc and their newer stuff like Pinky and the Brain is so far above Tom and Jerry it ain't funny. Tom and Jerry aren't even the best cat and mouse cartoon. Snoop and Blabber are even better. I HATE TOM AND JERRY! THE ALL TIME GREATEST CAT AND MOUSE DUO IS ITCHY AND SCRATCHY!!!

Simpsons and Warner Brothers are the best cartoons of all time.

Hanna Barbara i'm also fond of all their shit cuz I grew up on them - Flintstones, Jetsons, Snagglepuss, Magilla Gorilla, Top Cat.

Honorable mention to Ant and Aardvark - best voice casting ever in a cartoon.

Dangermouse was brilliant as was duckula. Both had some great adult humour hidden in them that was inspiring.

Certainly wouldn't put Tom and Jerry that high. There's a lot of other stuff, some modern, that wipes the floor with it.

Tom and Jerry is ok for kids.. They go way back too. I remember having one of the old "little big books" featuring tom n jerry.

But I love the Simpsons.. also Futurama, Family Guy.. those are all great these days with writing aimed at adults

Don't think i haven't had this conversations many times in the past. His reasoning was that whenever they said something like 'oh smurf' they were just using smurf as a swear word and teaching kids to swear. Don't worry. Just because I was banned from watching something doesn't mean I didn't see it.
