As far as irrational fears, I don't know why, but I'm most afraid of fuckin' cockroaches (esp. the oversized flying Palmetto bugs we have here in FL)

But on the other hand, I'm not in the least afraid of spiders and used to keep a bunch of snakes as pets...

I don't think that's a wives tale. I've read that what is meant by that is the cat smothering a crying baby (by trying to feed it milk) the baby ends up dying cause it cant breath.

I just put the most commonly mentioned animals that people are afraid of - I don't think most people think of grizzly bears and get the chills.
