I mean I liked the originals. But the new DVDs have so many new crappy added scenes. Like in Return of the Jedi they had to fuckin stick Jar Jar and the new fucktard who plays Anakin. Still can't believe they replaced Darth Vader's original actor and put him in with cgi...

It has alot of useless scenes that do nothing for the story and don't belong in the movie. Like in the end they got every planet celebrating... looks like the rave scene in the matrix except with badly cgi'd people.Originally posted by Chupachups
Jar Jar, Return of the Jedi.. hmm? What did I miss?
Does that new dvd collection have alot of new scenes?
Then during the scenes with Jaba they got all these extra music scenes...Comment

Empire looked pretty good. Nothing too distracting was added to take away from the movie.Originally posted by Chupachups

Haven't watched A New Hope yet... Im just hoping for the best.
And yes Lucas has been out of his mind since the originals. Its a shame he fucked up Return of the Jedi's ending so much.Comment

So he's standing there as a ghost beside Yoda, Obi Wan... but he has this stupid look. [sarcasm]While he was at it why not replace Alec Guiness with Ewan Mcgregor... [/sarcasm]
The added alot more scenes except with cheap poorly done cgi. These aren't from the extended ones... this was stuff they just decided on put in for the DVDs.Last edited by zzgundamnzz; 09-21-2004, 03:35 PM.Comment

These were VHS not DVDOriginally posted by Chupachups
Feeling a bit stupid here. A few years ago, 5-6 or so, they released "new" versions of the original parts - digitally enhanced and all that shit. Have they released even more versions of the originals (with that idiot character jarjar on top of it)?No OneComment

I really wish Lucas would release a 'unmolested' edition, sure its his movies, and he can craft them whatever way he damn well pleases, but what kind of precedence does it set for other directors to mess with their masterpieces?

Umm...what were you expecting? It's been common knowledge that these were going to be the lame special editions which are the only versions of the films he's released this decade. That's why I'm hanging on to my VHS trilogy for now. Of course, you can always buy the originals on bootleg dvds.Originally posted by zzgundamnzz

I went and saw the special editions in the theater and it was so disappointing. I should have known right then and there not to get my hopes up for Episode I.Comment

Umm... these aren't the special editions. The Special Editions were tolerable and didn't have Jar Jar or Episode 2 Anakin.Originally posted by Rictor

this from a recent message board:
To lead off with, Jar Jar Binks makes his way into them! Migod.......what a major brain fart on Lucas' behalf.
So for those fearing (or hoping) that Lucas would again make extensive changes to the classic first three movies in the saga, you will get your wish. Everything from less readily apparent changes - sound effects to the color of a lightsaber - to more substantive additions, including Ian McDiarmid (the evil Emperor) replacing Clive Revill in The Empire Strikes Back, to Anakin Hayden Christensen's face (badly) added to the body of Sebastian Shaw at the end of Return of the Jedi, or a chorus of cheering Gungians (or whatever those Jar Jar things are called) also tacked on to the finale of Jedi, will be found in the new DVDs. Sigh...but find out for yourself when the set reaches a galaxy near you this fall.
I'd already written off getting the DVD set when I learned it would be the "special edition" only (I'm clinging to my original VHS set), but these changes are ridiculous.
It's like putting a cherry on a shit sundae.
Actually, I think its like putting shit on top of a ice cream sundae. Because the product untouched is pretty good. But with the added bonuses, it quickly drags down into the gutter.
Everyone should atleast be happy that Jar Jar doesn't appear in the Indiana Jones DVD's!
Ok here's something I don't get. They're putting the face of Hayden Christensen on the body of the Anakin at the end of Return of the Jedi. Will they also be putting the face of Ewan McGregor on the body of Obiwan Kenobi in that same scene. Why would Anakin's ghost be a representation of his young self while Obiwan's ghost is a representation of his old self. Same thing goes for Yoda.
Lucas is a moron. There are so many thing he could have done in Episodes I and II that would have made them better. I don't see how he can make changes like this and not see how moronic it is.

wow, looks to me like Lucas fucked up yet once again........
way to go George! those DVD's sound burnworthy, and not my cashworthy.Comment

Last night I watched A New Hope and tonight I'm watching Empire Strikes Back. All of the added stuff is completely useless, totally a waste, does absolutely nothing to the story at all. I really have no idea why he wanted to add that crap. It just doesn't make sense.
If he was hoping to add some "cool effects" he should have spent some money to get good CGI instead of the crap in these movies. Horrible CGI.Vacares - Web Hosting, Domains, O365, Security & More - Paxum and BTC Accepted
