Greatest football player ever has streak end...

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=240919013

a game in 1985 was the last time Jerry Rice didnt catch a ball in a game. 274 games later it happened today. Somehow it makes me sad. He is the best ever and anyone who disagrees is simply not considering anyone but QBs and RBs for that title.

That fucken suxs, they were talking about it for the last 5 minutes of the game and still they didn't toss Rice his ball. I doubt anyone will ever catch his record anytime some but they should of still gave Rice the ball.

Having seen Jerry Rice when he was truly great, I would rather see them toss #80 a gold retirement watch. He is a fraction of his former self and an embarassment to his talents. Records mean nothing unless they help the team win.

dude needs to hang it up, I remember growing up, when i thought NFL wide receivers I THOUGHT JERRY RICE. these days if i think NFL receivers greatest of all time, his stock goes down, because of the past few years,.. I know he might like the game, but damn, build a field in your backyard or something, dont tarnish your legacy man

I have to agree with you. Very few great players can assess their abilities objectively. John Elway was one of the few who knew his abilities were about to erode, and he went out like a champ after his second Superbowl. Perfect timing.

Only fools think he is tarnishing his image, or thinks Jordan tarnished his image when he played for the wizards. They should do whatever they fucking want like most people.... if that means play, then play.

Jerry was awesome until Warren Sapp's fat ass body slammed him (1998?).

Jerry Rice is one of the best to play the game but the
BEST ever, imo Walter Payton.

Jerry is the best wide reciever by far but not so sure if he is the greatest player overall. It's hard in football to say who is the greatest because you have to also take into account thier Offensive or Defensive line. Do you think walter payton was the greatest? What about Barry Sanders? I would say sanders is Greater than Payton for the simple reason his line was much worse and he still accomplished a lot...

Payton only had a line for two seasons. the rest of the time
he did it on his own.

if you love something, you stick with it. you don't quit simply because your fans won't like you because of a "Tarnished" image.

athletes in any sport that continue to play past their prime are the great players in my opinion they love the game and they'll continue until they can't anymore.

they don't play for the show, they play for themselves.
