Britain to cut troop levels in Iraq

The British Army is to start pulling troops out of Iraq next month despite the deteriorating security situation in much of the country, The Observer has learnt.

The main British combat force in Iraq, about 5,000-strong, will be reduced by around a third by the end of October during a routine rotation of units.

The news came amid another day of mayhem in Iraq, which saw a suicide bomber kill at least 23 people and injure 53 in the northern city of Kirkuk. The victims were queueing to join Iraq's National Guard.

More than 200 people were killed last week in one of the bloodiest weeks since last year's invasion, strengthening impressions that the country is spinning out of control.

    The Coalition is breaking....

    Surprising ?
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

Eventually even the biggest puppet politician has to start listening to the views of the people in his own country.

Very much so. The sad part is that people will fall for it too and forget much that has gone on before. Bless all their little Sun and Mirror reading socks.

Yup and watch it..if Bush loses we are out as much as we can be as fast as we can be. That will be enough time for people to forget.

Is another factor be so many of the rebuilding contracts going to US companies?

But on the other hand and far more positive I glad Bush has made the world safer and removed the terrorist threat that Iraq was.

Leaders vow to defeat Iraq 'evil'

Seems he needs to tell some of the allies what a great success the whole thing was.

'Iraq has become the "crucible of global terrorism", but insurgents will be defeated, Tony Blair has pledged. '

So Tony Blair is actually saying that he's managed to turn a country that was fairly stable (even if the guy running it was a tad sadistic and ruthless, as are those in countless other countries that werent inavded) and no real threat to the west into a centre for global terrorism and a big threat to the west.

I suppose at least he's finally admitting it

He also said he did have a plan for post war Iraq, but there were people there who were determined to stop it working.

What kind of leaders invade a country, throw out the rulers and their class and assume afterwards everyone will be happy?

And I though Bush was the the foll, or was he listening to Bush?

                                        Blair has lost it IMO.

His party will sling him out. The UK electorate are not going to put up with him after the debacle of Iraq. I'm pretty sure he said that if their were no WMDs he would resign, guess I'm mistaken or he's not a man of his word.

My memory against the integrity and ethics of a politician, well we know my memory is shit.

                                        Tough call.
