Why do drivers freak out at the rain?

So I'm driving to work and it takes me about an hour. Because it's been raining all morning. Boo frickin hoo. I'm in Minnesota damn it where it snows and freezes and blah blah blah fishing blah blah camping blah.

Anyway, why does everybody slow down way under the speed limit when it rains... lightly? I understand heavy storms, but c'mon just a light rain all morning? Thanks Mr. and Mrs. cautious driver for making my commute and extray 25 minutes.

the roads get slick at the start of a rain...the water pushes the oil up out of the pavement so you are essentially on an oil slick

we have the samething here...if there is one cm of snow outside people drive liek madman and there are qccidents everywhere..it makes me laugh

Here in Indiana half of the drivers slow down, and the other half speeds up, runs more lights, and makes stupid turns they wouldnt ordinarily attemp as though the rain is causing everyone but them to go slower so they can get by with being extra bad. Rain = wreck withing 10 miles of my house everytime. I think people here are among the dumbest.

Yeah but it's been raining for about 3 hours, it didn't just start.

It's just frustrating.

It rains here ten months out of the year.

You'd think they would know how to drive in the rain.

They don't.

People are stupid.

Happy almost birthday, Steve.

Are you stupid? It takes longer to stop in the rain so you should drive slower than you normally would. Also your visibility is limited.
