For the gun fans..my new toy (pics)

Bought a .44 Magnum a week ago, picked it up on Friday, and went shooting this weekend. Its definitely a *blast* to shoot (har har, pardon the pun), and the recoil is much less than what I expected - very slight with .44 special ammo, and a little more noticeable with the actual magnum rounds.

Sorry for the bad quality...this was taken with my phone:

And this isnt my EXACT gun...but pretty close:

Here's an idea of how big the bullets are...almost as big as .50 A.E.:

And for those that want to give me a lecture on gun safety, or why guns are stupid - not really interested, but thanks anyway

I suppose thats true, but I've been around guns my whole life and consider myself pretty damn safe around guns - gun safety is one thing I'm pretty anal about, with no exceptions. I usually dont take new people shooting, because people that are inexperienced around guns is how accidents happen.

And I keep all my guns locked in a gun safe, so there's really no chance of anyone finding them and fooling around with them.

Agreed. The first time I took a friend shooting, I had to take the gun away from him and wouldn't let him shoot for the rest of the trip. He tried to convince me that pointing a gun at my head, even though it was unloaded, was "no big deal".
People like that are why innocent people get killed. Some people shouldn't be allowed to own guns, and in my opinion, the process of getting a gun in the U.S. should be much tougher

I'm actually only 20, so the .44 is technically in my dads name...but he's the one that taught me to shoot, so he trusts me. I'm waiting until I'm 21 to actually start purchasing some more pistols - .45 USP, Glock 19c, and a Beretta at some point.

Eventually though, I may have to purchase a .50 DE as well

I have a nice little Colt .45 model 1991 A1. I fucking love it. I have the Government model with the black checkered rubber composite handle. I really can't say enough good things about this piece. I love it. I love it.

P.S. Fuck all you hating ass bitches in advance. As the thread clearly stated, nobody wants to hear gun safety sermons over here. Gun control is hitting your target.

Isn't it a 1911? I do not know much about guns so correct me if I am wrong. I shoot with my friend, he was an armorour in the Army, he has the 1911 and of all his guns it is the one i can group with the best and feel has a good stoping power vs accuracy and comforable use.

I shot the DE, I am 6'4" and have big hands and the gun just seemed about as useful as trying to shoot a cannon at someone coming at me. Coincidently I was in the store when Shaq came in to pick up his chrome and gold plated DE's, they fit nicely in his hands so I understand why he has them.

The 1911 is the original model from back in the day. The 1991 A1 is very similar with a few security upgrades that make it a little safer. I couldn't agree with you more about the way it feels to shoot and the nice tight grouping.

Actually the ban was lifted today, and it didn't legalize automatic weapons; just "assult weapons". Now legalized, are:

AK47s
AR15s, M16s
Beretta Ar70
FN/FAL, LAR Types
Steyr Aug
UZI, Galils
TEC9s and TEC22s
M-10/11/12s
Street Sweeper Shotguns

Note that during the ban, knockoffs and those manufactured BEFORE the ban were legal - but now we can get authentic, new weapons without paying an arm and a leg.

Also legalized are assault weapon accesories, which were previously limited to 1 per gun

Some of these accesories include:
-Threaded Barrel, for flash suppresors, muzzle brakes, etc...
-Pistol grips
-Folding stocks
-High capacity magazines
-Bayonet mounts (dont ask me why THAT was banned - when was the last person someone with a rifle decided to bayonet someone instead? )

But - automatic weapons will STILL be illegal, unless they are pre-ban. Which, in my book, is a good thing.

That would actually depend on which armory you are referring to.

I sold my street sweeper...What a hunk of shit those things are.

Now that this ban is lifted...I think I will pick up a Steyr Aug, TEC 9, and a Mac-10.

Plus, I may be able to get some cool mods for the AR-10 that I have been puting together.

haha, I sort of remembered hearing something about you being into guns, but I wasn't too sure...good to know, though!

AR-15, eh?
Here's a picture of my AK..New stock, handguard, Bipod, and scope. With the new rules on assault weapons I am going to buy a new gun and get a threaded barrel, for a muzzle brake, and other than that keep the wood look.

10 rd magazine:

30rd magazine:

The thing is a blast to shoot, and VERY easy to maintain. I field stripped it to clear out a jam while shooting this weekend, and was setting all the parts down in the dirt as I disassembled it. Put it back together, dirt and all, and it shot just fine. Russian engineering is amazing - so simple and cheap, yet elegant and effective at the same time. Definitely no nonsense in these guns!

Very accurate too - I didnt bring my glasses, which I usually bring, but I was still able to hit consistent groups on a 8" target at 75-100yds, using only the iron sites. Its the most fun you'll ever have with a 300 dollar gun!

Im not really a shotgun fan, but I do own a Mossberg 500. It was sort of an impulse buy, as I figured no gun collection was complete without at least one shotgun, but I do enjoy firing it every once and a while. They do have that certain 'point, shoot, and watch shit get blowed up REEEAL good' sort of appeal to them, which is always entertaining!

I'd say the majority of gun collectors, and those that legally own firearms in the U.S. ARE very responsible. Its the less than 1% of people that act like assholes and give the rest of us a bad name
