I submitted a gallery to thehun 3 days ago and got an email today saying that my gallery is accepted.
Normally it takes about a month so I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced this also, has he finally catched up with his submissions or what?

You'll see a strange order of acceptance from me for a while... Trying to catch up a bit. A month waiting for a decline or approve e-mail is rediculous. It also misses the point. A gallery is declined 'cause someone might want to change. If it's declined after a month it's only pissing people off. Which is not good. So I'm trying to do the more recent submissions first, and catch up with the old ones at the same time. I don't delete submitted galleries before reviewing 'em, so don't worry that hard work might get thrown overboard... it won't happen

Firstly, if you get more acceptable submissions per day than is required for the site then you will never catch up. Would it not be better to select acceptable galleries at random from a rolling stack that dumps by submission date. This way everyone will know that if they have not been listed after lets say 2 weeks its time to re-submit and try again.

Although I no longer submit to TGP's, I can understand why people get frustrated waiting for there hard work to get listed.


Personally, I think all big TGP?s should have submitters accounts that require proper e-mail address registration etc. The webmaster could then log in and see if a submission is waiting for acceptance, been rejected. or simply fallen off the list.

I first got into this biz as a gallery maker.I tried submitting to you several times and was either forgotten or rejected.I spent 10 minutes just reading all of your rules and even provided a recip on my gallery.Still got rejected.I decided that I would start my own tgp and make it easier for gallery owners to submit and I would post submits the next day.
Granted I don't get as many submits or as much traffic as you,but because of the gallery owners frustration with you,my tgp is growing everyday.So I thank you.

Gallery owners-
You shouldn't have to kiss a tgp's ass in order to get listed.If it wasn't for you making galleries,there wouldn't be any tgps.
You should all submit to the smaller more appreciative tgps....you'll get listed faster.

My tgp has been up for 2 weeks on my new host.I am getting 1k+/day in traffic right now.Like I say my tgp is growing everyday.
Here's how I handle those who submit to me on a regular basis:

If I come to trust a gallery owner I make them auto add.

I email them and let them know just how much I appreciate their submits.

I don't just post a gallery for one day.I keep it posted for one week.

I post all accepted submits the next day...sometimes the same day!

I don't have alot of ridiculous rules.
No child porn,beastiality,pop-ups,etc.

I only require a recip if there are others.

You may not get 80,000 hits in one day,but you will get listed!It's better to get 1k to 5k for a week at my tgp than to be rejected or left in the dark by the larger tgps who could care less if you ever submit to them again.
I try to do whatever it takes to make submitting to my tgp easier for you.

Without gallery makers,I don't have a site.

Flash: You're noble frase "if there were no gallery builders there wouldn't be TGP's" has pretty much been on my site for about 6 years now. Please don't act as if you re-invented the wheel here...

It's cool you're getting submissions to fill your link-site. I hope you'll do very well on it. And I hope you too will get more submissions that you can place. That means you can be picky. But that also means you're going to reject galleries. Or maybe you'll do the same as I did and create a 'overflow'-section of your site. Anyway, you'll learn that there's no pleasing everbody. I have the upmost respect for everybody that submits to my site. I was the first to know, and to tell others, that without submissions my site would have no content. I hope the people that are, in your words, frustrated with me so now submitting to you, do very well of your trafic. And I mean that. At the moment I'm doing pretty good. I get good submissions and I get enough of 'em to keep my site interesting. You'll grow in the future, and you'll remember what I said. You'll see the other side of the story soon enough ;-)

Susan. Thanks for the advice. But I already pick the best submissions. I don't want to do it randomly. I think the least I can do is check every submission myself. After all, people didn't build a gallery to never get it checked. And that's what would happen if things would occur randomly. There are different ways to catch up. One is The Hun's Overflow. Another way would be to pick a date and do a mega-post that day. Another one is to make sure I post 4-5 links more than I picked out of 24 hours of submissions. That means it takes a long time before I catch up, but eventually I'll catch up... I'm combining these options. I don't know when it'll be, but one of these days I'll have a 1 or 2 week backlog again, and that's more an acceptable time-span ;-)

The Hun, If you happen to pop in and see this could you please let me know what your suggestion is regarding resubmitting galleries to you that did not get listed the first time round. I have a few galleries that didn't get listed that I am pretty sure were good galleries and am thinking that maybe there were just BETTER ones that day. I am not sure if you send "declined" emails or not, can't remember ever getting one anyway. So my question is, can I resubmit the same url if I don't get an accepted message or would this be a waste of both of our time? If I should resubmit how long should I wait? Thanks a lot, your traffic seems to like my girlfriend...lol

Who knows...maybe I just cut my own throat here...maybe I just bettered myself.So far my submissions have tripled.I have seen what has been written on the bbs, by gallery owners,who complain about how hard it is to submit to tgps.I don't want a tgp like that.The Hun is probably the biggest tgp out there.he can give you more traffic in one day than I can in one month.

Hun- before you get on your high horse and tell me that I'm re-inventing something else,keep these next 2 comments in mind.

1-You started your tgp because there was a lack in one area or another.You decided to change that and you did very well.I'm doing the same thing, sir.

Although I have only submitted a few galleries to TGPs, and only one so far to the Hun (soon to be two) - at least he will send out decline emails. So does Dr. Bizarro.

I have been submitting to more and more TGPs and it seems like some are just circle jerk sites and some of the others never respond or list me.

At least I know if will take a while when submitting to The Hun (and maybe even get a rejection slip), which is more that I can say for some TGPs - where my submission has wound up in the twilight zone.

Yes, The Hun could be faster, but I would rather have it slow and good than fast and cheap...

Before you lump my tgp in with the others,I do send out decline and accept emails.The Hun is a good tgp,just slow.He probably is overwhelmed with submits.If you don't mind waiting then stay with The Hun.I'm sure that when you do get posted it will be well worth the wait.Fast doesn't = cheap btw.

I used to do the same thing back when my TGP was real popular -- I go through the new shit first. It's a good strategy... I do the same thing when I get 100 emails... The reason is this:

There is a certain special value is getting back with someone (email, TGP submission, etc.) very quickly. People don't forget when you get back to them right away -- they make note of it in their mind and they immediately see you as a hard working webmaster. I know this is true because I always get comments like "Do you live in front of your computer? Wow that was really fast!" -- or "Damn do you ever sleep? I can't believe how quick you answered my email..." hahaaha... This thread is just pudding proof.

Anyway if anyone has some unique galleries of individual babes, amateurs, pornstars, models... (sets of pics -- not just random shit) -- contact me -- send me an email ([email protected]) w/ the gallery listing. This will be A PERMANENT listing -- I'm not a TGP so don't add me to your submission script! Don't send me galleries of ugly girls either -- I go through every gallery and if she doesn't turn me on then forget it ;) Full size pics please too...

The reason I am where I am now if 'cause I respect both sides of the link-site game. On one hand there's the webmasters that provide the content. I don't demand reciprocals, I don't have a minimum requirement for the number of pics, I don't have a maximum for the number of banners. All I ask is to 'keep it fair' and that's a broad statement. On the other side there's the surfers. And they are at least just as important...

I spend a lot of time writing webmasters, explaining what was wrong, or thanking them for good submissions they sent in. Flash, I'm not on a high horse, but the reason I stated you reinvented the wheel was that I sense that you're accusing me of not having the personal contact with the people that submit to me. 'cause that would be a wrong statement...

As a webmaster in this biz for almost 4 years I would like to say that The Hun has always been friendly, helpful and more than accommodating with regards to gallery posting.

When I first started out, both he and his wife at Thumb's Up gave me extra special attention and although I have not been in touch with them much over the years, I will always remember their kindness. It certainly motivated me to keep plugging away.

Currently, as an owner of 5 TGP's and a daily submitter of galleries I understand the difficulties and frustrations faced by both TGPs owners and gallery makers. And believe me, it's a hell of a lot easier to not take things personally and to just keep working rather than to obsess over everything.

It's life. There's always going to be the good and the bad.

BTW - This is my first post so "go fuck yourself".

One question: You state that you have no limit on the number of banners. That may be true, but you reject galleries for "too much advertising." So which is it?

Lude, that is correct... If a gallery is more an ad than a gallery it's usually declined for having a "bad ratio". I have accepted galleries with 10 pictures and two banners and I've declined galleries with 30 pictures and one banner... It all depends on what the focus of a gallery is. If people are trying to push quality it shows by the gallery they built. Those are the galleries I prefer (of course ;-)

That's not true at all, if your gallery isn't ultra-clean, or the pics around a banner, you're out. The surfer NEED to know that we aren't giving free stuff, we are advertisers... 90% of surfers don't even know that because the galleries are damn too clean.

I don't post to TGPs on a regular basis, just when traffic is slowing down on my sites, so I often forget where and when I have posted a gallery.

I was just thinking about submitting some new galleries to the Yellow Pages when I noticed in my stats 61 hits from the Hun. Wow I thought, the Hun is clairvoyant and rewarding me with a few hits just for thinking of him.

A little detective work showed me that the gallery had been posted in November of last year. Not bad. Thank you Herr Hun.

Zgorf... not true at all? Think again. I do not have a maximum for the number of banners. Simple as that. If a page looks clean I don't go counting banners so see if there's one too many. The feel of a gallery has to be good. And that's a mix of layout, number of pictures, number of banners and everything. Thinking it can be put down to mere numbers is not having a clear view on how I review (and nobody can be blamed for that ;-)... Anyway, like I said, I accepted galleries with 3 banners and 10 pictures, I declined 'em with 30 pics and one banner. If you have a gallery based around one big ad the focus is on the ads, and it's very unlikely I would list such a gallery...

Once I wrote to the Hun with a question about my gallery. It was around 4 a.m. at my place and 2 a.m. at his. He responded in about 10 minutes and we exchanged with a couple more very helpful (for me) e-mails.

Flash, when the Hun says that he respects both sides of the game, trust me, he does!

Also, you said that you SPENT 10 minutes reading the rules at The Yellow Pages and then quit submitting because your galleries were all declined. I bet if STUDY those pages for a few hours and think about what's written there, you will change your opinion about The Hun.

X3m-first of all I AM NOT SLAMMING THE HUN!I own a tgp now and no longer build galleries.My galleries were probably too shitty looking for him to post(don't blame him there).

Second-spend a few hours reading his rules....lol.The Hun choses the best of the best.He has a kick ass site and has every right to do that.

Third-my whole point ( and The Hun agrees with me)is that ALL tgp owners need to be easier to submit to and be more personable...me included.

The Hun is The biggest and (my opinion)the best tgp out there.He's the one who got me started on wanting my own tgp.

He and I exchanged views..it was never malicious or a personal attack on one another.I have read posts, on this bbs by gallery makers,about how The Hun personally helped them with their gallery designs.Now that,to me, is a great tgp owner.


So Hun,if ya read this...care to share some of that German wine?
