Got an email from dotsex.com... is it worth it?

Got several spams from dotsex.com offering .sex domains for $59 a year... how come none of the names are accessible if you type it in your browser address bar? And why no other registrar lets you register .sex TLD. Is .sex going to stay or what...?

    Because it's not authorized.

dot sex and dot xxx are not accepted bu ICANN and they have no plans to make them available anytime soon. Some registrars are trying to get money for nothing and can't even guarentee you would get the name since more than one person thru different registrars will be after the same names.

Good luck and a waste of money. Oh and there are more out there doing it for cheaper anyhow.

        From their FAQ:

When and how can I use a .sex domain name?
The .sex domain names are currently being registered for activation in 2002. They will initially be viewed on the Internet by making a slight alteration to your web browser.

ICANN says otherwise and since they control the names and numbers on the web, who ya gonna believe?

I registered a few a day after they opened for registration. The way I figured it, I only loose a few hundred dollars, but if it takes off anytime, I might get back thousands for those one word domains. Imagine this, you see free.sex unregistered now and dont register it, and then read about it selling for 200,000$ a couple of years later.

...well that might be the only reason the scam worked 'cause lots of names are taken already.

any of you guys remember Robin Nixon???

Technically the names can be made to resolve. Your 'ownership' of these same names is another matter entirely...
