Why this simply will not work...

The majority of your spam is being done by professionals, not nubes like you. So if I go to Jakarta and setup a DNS server with the Sender ID list and then start spamming the fuck out of you, what did you list requirement accomplish?

And if I do this in the other 60 countries where laws are moot and money is God then what? Who is going to stop me when the person who is 'running' the server is a national of the country the server is in and gets paid $100,000 a year to be my house boy?

proxy mailing will probably be done for but spam sure isn't. this SPF is going to be a pain in everyones ass. you do realize that everyone here who owns domains has to get the published with SPF in order to send mail to hotmail, yahoo, ect. there are going to be a lot of ppl who won't be getting their email with this system.

This shit is going to make the big time spammers even more money,... kind of like drug kingpins :helpme

Nysus 09-11-2004 11:11 AM

The biggest problem that will come of this is at least initially emails not being delivered because of unknown address, which I think will affect/bother people more than getting spam. People will get used to the new way of things though and spam will be minimal.

#2 spf is coming ..and if it works, which i bet it will, its gonna have a huge impact.

Dont be fooled by the cockyness. Only a fewmailers/programmers really know what they are doing, and know people who can code something that *could* get arouned new systems. The rest rely on grabbing a free copy of a mailer, loading their proxies and mailing like the other thousands of sheep that do it daily. If you knew what mailing programs were out you would see that 90% of the people all use the same one. When that shit tanks, they will all start to shit themselves.

Thre will definitely be some weeding of the smaller mailers..thats for sure...in the end, there will be less spam..there will still be some spam..but less spam

internal mailers are effective. The accounts are even cheaper than lists or proxies too. With $200 you can buy around 20,000 - 30,000 yahoo accounts depending on the seller. With those you can mail about 3 million people each day since yahoo doesnt kill accounts that spam, at least not yet. Aol can't simply block off al of yahoo since tons of mail would be lost.

Spf is already being used. see this article. ttp://thewhir.com/marketwatch/spf090804.cfm

I don't think you will find a spammer on this earth that considers their mail not to be 'legitimate'!

one thing for sure for me, i won't use Outlook again.

Speaking of spammers.. er, I mean mailers :). Lets say a guy had a couple hundred thousand legitimate optin address he was wanting to unload. Maybe interests from crafts to mortgage to opportunities (get rich quick) interest groups, how would this guy (theoretically) find buyers for his lists?

If these lists existed and the guy wanted to unload them, they would probably need to be cleaned, some may be 4 to 6 months old. Theoretically some would also be full data with name, address, email address etc. and others would be flat email address databases. All would be optin addresses (not unsubs).

Just curious.....:Graucho

I hope something strong comes out soon that will stop the most of spam,
so that it weeds out all the sheeps out of mail business and pro spammers will get the most money :winkwink:

Yep, I hope we see more CANSPAM arrests too, lengthy prison sentences also deter newbies.

I buy full data pharmacy lists, no opt-in crap though, just order records.

I could use databases from any business really, but again not interested in opt-in lists, just people that actually buy, ICQ me if it is worth discussing.
