does buying google adwords improve your search placement in regular searches.
for example does the improved (presumeably) number of people clicking your link make you more popular and thus higher placed TIA

It could help the relevance of your page therefore boosting your ranking in natural search listings.
On the other hand, it could also be detremental because if you have a relatively low CTR then Google will start viewing your site as irrelevant.
