Pff right. I love how easily he got out of the rear naked choke (sleeper) and how the assaliant fell into the arm bars. And the point blank gun strips. This stuff may work against an untrained opponent but unlikely to be effective against someone trained in fighting and weapons.

Krav Maga has my respect as a martial artist. I urge you to find a competant and professional teacher, preferably someone who is ranked in a listing of trainers in a competant source of information. DO NOT take classes in a dojo that teaches cardio kickboxing, TKD or Karate. Preferably your instructor should be from the middle east or at least trained there.

Tony is right, this is life or death, and it is sad when an instructor has a helper who flows into movements so they look good, there has to be some resistance to his movements. I have seen instructors who showed failure of techniques just to be honest with those who were learning and to show how movments must be executed at 100%, slack off or do it half assed and you are dead.

oh for fuck's sake.. I got as far as him punching the inside of a knife wielder's elbow and had to turn it off. When someone has a weapon your only chance is to control their arm and hand totally from the second you start resisting or you're a fucking dead man. You have to grab that arm and pin it against their body or against your body and KEEP it there, you don't leave it fucking swinging around for even a fraction of a second.

All this bullshit is just that, bullshit. You don't get out of a properly applied RNC. You just don't. If you try to sweep someone's knife or gun hand away or even worse punch it they'll just lower their arm and kill you. In real life, people don't cooperate with you like they do in this video and in ALL kung fu etc videos.

CIA agents, SEALS, FBI blah blah blah, they're just dudes. They have some training but there's no 'secret deadly techniques' they know that nobody else knows. Use your common sense. If it works you'll see it in the ring when pro fighters fight. In the ring you see BJJ, Muay Thai, wrestling and boxing. All this other bullshit is pure shitheels trying to take your money.

Rorion Gracie is a trainer for the Israeli army, he has dozens of plaques and certificates of appreciation on his walls from them. Krav Maga is just common sense shit, dropping knees on people, elbows etc. Basically it's like JKD, it's whatever you want it to be. You just throw shit together and call it an art. The truth is the Israelis learn a lot of BJJ grappling for hand to hand shit.

I did find a Gracie school here in Vegas...I've been toying with joining.

I started taking JuiJitsu back in '92 but seperated my shoulder in a throw and just couldn't seem to get strength back to it to withstand falls etc.

There were numerous other guys getting injured during testing etc and I finally walked away from that class thinking to myself "how effective can I be at defending myself if I'm always injured?"

it's true that there's a risk of injury, but it's better to get injured a little in class than get killed a lot in a real fight.

Use very light weights and you can rehab your shoulder. I had a couple tendons in my bicep become detached from the shoulder, a slap tear on my labrum and a frayed rotator cuff, six weeks physical therapy doing arm exercises with light weights and it's good as new. Right now I'm rehabbing a torn ligament in my ankle

at our last tournament two weeks ago two people had to be taken out in an ambulance hehehehehe

for some reason when you're training it's just not that scary, although I can understand why it would seem that way looking in from the outside.

I miss the training...especially saturdays where we would do nothing but grapple.

We'd throw a knife into the middle of the room and 2 people would have to go for it...I would always let them commit first and then take them out when they did ;)

Actually that's not me.

I'm much more heavier than when I was training back in '92...so I have to get into some kind of shape before I even try again.

Its good to know, but I too think if someone has a gone, they would never come that close to you to shoot.

the assumption has to be that they're trying to rob you, not necessarily kill you. If they're out robbing, they're probably not that smart.

The smart thing to do with a gun is just do whatever the fuck he says. Most likely you'll be pissing your pants anyways and won't want to fight him. The only conceivable time I would resist against a gun is somebody in my house wanting to tie me up or something. I don't think I could take that and would just as soon go out fighting as go out tied up getting cut up or worse.

with any gun or knife type moves, it's understood that you only fight back if there's truly nothing left to do.

No matter how much you train, a guy with a gun is probably going to kill you if he wants to.

Dangers in training:
My friend got his jaw dislocated once in practice but he has trained for 2-3 years.

Best training:
MMA training is the best you can get, if something else worked better it would be in MMA. The disarm moves are probably the best you can get but they are all still very risky and some of the fatality stuff that haganah teaches looks far fetched to me.

Gracies:
The gracies are badass but if you plan to fight in mma with gracie training you may take a beating. They were all the best submission guys but most of them werent as good at stand up fighting, but there is a reason their family was undefeated for so long.

to fight a pro fighter you need to be as dangerous on your feet as you are on the ground. Against a normal person you're much better off getting them down and submitting them, as Royce proved. The new generation of Gracies are learning stand-up as well as their ground game though so you can expect new big things out of the Gracie Family in the next few years.

The thing about striking with someone is that anyone can beat you with any lucky punch. I don't care if you're Vanderleigh Silva. If you get in a bar fight with a powerful man with fast hands you might get KTFO, even if the guy's never trained a day in his life.

People don't really realize, I don't think, that anybody can be dangerous. If you're big and fast and really aggressive, you're a threat to anybody if they're willing to trade punches with you. Taking a man down greatly reduces the lucky shot likelihood.
