my turn to have an emergency...!!!!
i clicked on a file to choose where i was gonna download to when my PC locked up - ho hum.
I rebooted and the PC wouldn't see the primary master or slave (i have 2 HDD's) and wouldn't boot up. I went into BIOS and it would pick up C(master with OS on it) - but not D (the important one with all my program files and site backups) but on reboot - it refused to see it. I turned it off and got some dinner! I came back and it booted the C drive up (and i burned a CD straigh away with everything apart from WINDOWS folder at just over a gig) but it only sees D as a CDRom now.... Any ideas??? *smokes 10th cigarette of the hour* |

Does your bios support the search for the slave drive? We've had that happen and had to have the bios search it out (usually took several times with reboots in between) And popping the ribbon cables on and off a few times to help increase the contacts conductivity would help too. They glaze from oxidation and heat.

Kat
If the bios will not detect a drive check the cables are fully home. |
