OHHHH... BandwiTch... that is a totally different thing... I am pretty sure they only play on Halloween or in Harry Potter books. I think they are really hot in Salem right now... Number one hit on the Charts -"Come on Ride a Broom!" Techno and Hip Hop style mixed gives a nice blend.

I didnt realise that adult webmasters could be so fucking funny. I am over whelmed by your sense of humour!!

I amn asking a simple question and because I am in the middle of designing galleries all night i dont need this kind of shit.

Answer the question:

How much bandwitch does your website use in relation to visitors, preferably it would help if you would also state what type of site you run eg tgp , free site etc

Now Eric_aka_RedEyes , You sexy beast show your knowledge or

Hmm pretty weak apology!

I think my old man uses anywhere from 20-40% of site total times raws-uniques to get a roundabout number. Then you have to average a couple of actual months.

Well if you are lucky enough and host with a good host they can offer you several different options. One) Flat bandwidth pricing - this does not sound like the best option for you cause you do not know your bandwidth usage. Two) Burstable bandwidth option - this can allow you to commit to a very low rate and then if you know you are going to burst in bandwidth at different times of the day you can. This can be a good option cause you have a committed rate and most adult stuff goes on during the day (US time) so you can have that option. And alot of ISPs will only bill at the 95th percentile throwing out everything that occurs above that. Three) Metered bandwidth option - this may be your best bet. The reason I say this is because with Metered you only pay for what you use. Just make sure you negotiate a low rate per GB or per Mbps. Plus the bigger your bandwidth bill in this scenario the more money you should be making. If you are playing your cards right.

Now since I know my shit!

Go Fuck Yourself! HAHAHAHAHA

vporn.co.uk, There is no such thing as "An average Website" If you ask someone like Lensman or me what our average bandwidth is, you will probabally drop dead. And your 1 server couldnt handle even serving my emails. But if you were to ask someone who does this biz part time an hour or 2 a day, they may tell you 30-50 gigs a month is there average, then again if you ask a decent size tgp owner, they may tell you 3-6 megs a day... So really if you want a better Idea, please give us a bit more specifics on what you are trying to do with your server.

Oh, I haven't laughed so since I read this a couple days ago:
http://www.bmug.org/news/articles/MSvsPF.html

Here is one site:
http://www.teenfix.com/

It has 35 pictures, three pages, plus a directory.
5189297K for 31666 visits

I am not sure what definition of BandwiDTH they use, but you can take 5189297/31666 = 163K per visitor.

1 Gig = approximately 1,000,000K
1,000,000/163K =6,135 vistors per gig.

So for my site every 6000 or so visitors costs me one gig, but I think some hosts use different methods and I am not sure exactly how they do it.

Different sites will vary:
http://lesbians.isleofsex.com/

uses 303k per visitor, but It has 4 pages, and it has more pics, plus I have banners on the html pages that come up when you click on thumbnails.

That is just the first two I checked. I am sure TheHun uses a lot less - his site is mostly text. Other sites might use more.

It really doesn't have much to do with how much content you have on your website but how you promote it.

If you have interesting image galleries and post one gallery a day to one of the top TGPs you better be prepared to pay thousands of dollars a month for bandwith by the end of the first month

If you go the exchanging links route, you will probably stay under a 100 dollars a month for a long time.

Don't get hung up about bandwidth, just make sure you can afford your promotion scheme.

Even five minutes a day can get you in a lot of trouble real fast.

Of course pearce! You mean you are supposed to NOT drink during some portion of a day?!

Actually he's pretty accurate with that formula. I just can't put it in to words from his mumbling it.

Yes, I am starting to realize that. I am a recent convert to adult sites - coming from place where I never even bothered to check about bandwidth.

Now I find dreamweaver is getting me into trouble - as I can make galleries fairly quickly. I still am making money, but I am going to have to start optimizing stuff more. Even compressing html pages can save.

I just got my first notice from my old hosting - where I only have one adult site with decent traffic - that I am about to go over for the month already. It was a bitter sweet moment for me Kinda brought a tear to my eye...

most surfers don't click all the pics... so you can't make estimates like that...

try paying/gig -- it's the easiest... i would strongly recommend against a dedicated server... I've switched hosts probalby 8 times since I've started... a pay as you go per/gig host is simple and affordable -- you can get a site up w/ very little investment.

I register my domains at www.cwnic.com for $15.

Plan on spending $2-$4/gig anything more or less and you are getting ripped off.

If you have questions and want hosting call me 310-399-0175

just calculate....

1 gig of bandwith ~ 1000 megs ~ 1 000 000 kb

now, check how big your site is, and multiply it by the amount of visitors your site is getting.

It's as simple as that

I wouldn't say paying less than $2 gig would be called getting ripped off.

The economy is shit, bandwidth is cheap right now. I know of one ISP that has built 8 40 million dollar datacenters and they are EMPTY! They are giving away bandwidth to get people in their centers.

Just my $.02
