Just as in the 1930s, many nations are blind to the threat of jihad, just as they were to Hitler. They think appeasement will work, and they fear what they see as America's aggressive response to the attacks of 9/11.
Bush is dealing with the harsh reality of terrorism. He's not trying to win a worldwide popularity contest.
The results of this odd global poll are far more troubling for the Kerry campaign. They show just how out of touch the Democratic candidate has grown from U.S. voters. To win, he's got to appeal more to Kansas City and Dubuque, even if it means appealing less to Paris and Berlin.~ loryn@loryntaylor . com ~

The greeks hate him it seems. Fun but daft poll. As was said a little geo script would have made it just a little more accurate. Of course the only poll that truly counts is the ones made from the little slips of paper put in a box

the world will slowly begin to open it's eyes to the threat of jihad, as soon as buses, buildings, and restaurants in Paris, Brussels, Oslo and other european capitals begin to explode...
some countries like spain though, seem not to learn from the first shot..Comment

No doubt about that, but compraring exploding busses or drive-in restaurants to the events of the 1930's (when whole countries collapsed within weeks) still seems a litte bit absurd to me...Originally posted by alexg

So what are you trying to say ? That Bush knows how to fight terrorism and Kerry doesn't ? And that the rest of the world feels Kerry will do a better job of, what exactly ?Originally posted by Loryn-Adult.com

See the thing is .. as important an issue that terrorism is ... it doesn't affect everyone's lives. I mean .. it has the potential to affect my life. I'm very thankful I had no family or friends in New York during 9/11 .. and some day maybe suicide bombers will start blowing up buses in the US and Canada... but, blind or not, that's not what really matters to most people (at least I don't think it is).
Most people, as far as I can tell, want to see their own country's economy do well. They want jobs, they want health care, they want freedom and they want low taxes.
The only thing Bush really has to do with when it comes to the rest of the world is economy and freedom. People don't like the US military and police in their countries, period. And they don't like the idea of sending all their natural resources to the US.
They feel that Kerry will lessen military presence and put less pressure on them to sell their resources. No one gives a fuck about whether Bush can combat terrorism or not.. because that's something the world must do together. No one considers Bush their hero nor do they want him to be.
But I guess in the southern states, where Bush support is very high, that's a different story. People want that cowboy hero thing. Go out and get 'em tiger. Blow them all to hell. Invade countries and wipe out those arab terorrist mother fuckers.
If you've ever worried about anti US sentiment.. now is the time to do it. Becaues that's the exact image that Bush supporters in the US are giving off. The republican convention on TV portrayed a bunch of gun totin' blood thirsty people that were all about war and nothing else.
If I were american I'd vote Kerry simply for the fact that I think he concerns himself more with issues that are going to directly affect my livelyhood .. like job growth, health care, the right to run porn sites etc.Comment

"RIGHT" TO RUN PORN SITES?
Dude -
Should law prohibit it, I no longer have that right. I am afterall, talking about things that affect my everday life. And if porn were to be prohibited, like it is being in other countries such as China, and like the attorney general in the US seems to want to do, I wouldn't be able to feed myself or my children .. so I think that affects my life pretty profoundly.
Perhaps I should have used more general terms such as free speech ? Americans love to use that one all the time. Does that make more sense to you ?
Or am I misunderstanding your completely clear and unambiguous "Dude -" ?Comment

Your value to the government in being strung up as an "example" is more than your economic dealings and whatever you pay into the system.Originally posted by garett

So this whole Jihad thing is wrong... they go to some other country, blow something up in the name of God, in an attempt to force their government to do things differently.
Yeah, that's wrong.
