Conversion Rate Question - GoFuckYourself.com

I submitted to the hun about 6 weeks ago, got accepted, completely forgot about it, and got listed on Tuesday. First day I got 65k, second day was 30k. I got 750 click thrus to sponsors and 4 signups in those 2 days.

How does that rate for conversion? Should I have gotten more click thrus, or more signups? The url is listed below, any feedback would be great.

Rivux, actually thats not to bad if you ask me...Consider the fact that it didnt cost you a cent except the time to make and submit the gallery. BTW I like your host..LOL (((((Wink))))

I forgot to add this, dont forget this, The Massive traffic may have stopped now, but you will get in the Huns archives for a long time, and you have the potential of continuing to make more money from that gallery.

95k and 750 click throughs is extremely poor, regardless of the sales. You need to work on your advertising techniques - unfortunately the only way to do that is to keep submitting.

Methinks that Lightning probably made more clickthroughs off of that gallery than you... to be successful doing galleries on free hosts, your gallery has to be designed thus that it screams attention away from the freehost banners. Of course I'm not saying that the freehost shouldn't be making any money from the gallery 'cause that would be stupid, but the webmaster is building the gallery to make money for themself - not to make money for the freehost.

No offence but the gallery is just plain bad. I'll get you started... make the background WHITE so it doesn't contrast with the freehost header. When the gallery loads, my eyes of attracted right to the header, as it is the brightest thing on the page.

Now you're going to have to spend another 12 months finding out how everything else works, just like I did. And I'm still learning.

ldinternet, Lets really not start a piss thread, I see your point, But I do have to add a few comments to it.

First, Rivux made a few hundred bucks off the 1 gallery, and has no cost at all. Now I may have gotton some clicks as well, but I also spent approx 50 bucks or more hosting just that 1 gallery.

Second, If the Free Host doesnt make, not only his Cost, but a little profit as well, then in a short time the Host will close, and Then all those countless hours the webmaster spent making and submitting all their galleries will all just go away... So wouldn't it be better to work together, and not try to deter the surfers away from the Hosts ads???

It seems to me (and most of the honest professional webmasters) that are in this business for the long haul, and not the quick buck, that being honest, and working together will get you much further in the long run..

OK theirs my 2 cents...

I believe that when putting a gallery on a free host, the point is for both people to make money. Not just the gallery maker and just not the host.
But it seems that often there is a fight between the two for the consumers money, when in fact they should be working in tandem to get the user to buy from a sponsor.
Not sure if there is a way for the two to work together, I am sure that they could make more money, then working against each other. But it would be nice.

Just my 2 cents.

But to clarify...

As I said, when I build a gallery, I build to make money for me, not for smutserver to make money. Smutserver have the header and the footer on all my galleries, they put whatever they like on there out of my control, and that is fine. I'm not going to use #anchor tags, tell visitors not to click their ads, push their footer into China, or any of that cheating crap.

I always make the best galleries that I can, so whether they be on my paid hosting or on free hosting, my key aim is to get the surfers attention. The first thing that loads is the free host header, that's their pitch and they are free to do whatever they like in their header - they are paying for the gallery afterall. They have a chance to get their sales pitch across.

However, when my gallery loads it's time for me to to get my sales pitch, bigstyle. The same techniques are those that I use for my paid hosted warning page and avs sites - get the surfers attention, grab them and pull them into the sponsor. If I load up a gallery on the freehost and see that the freehost header is the first thing that grabs my eye, then I'll change the gallery style. Why? Smutserver offer a free movie site in big luminescent bold text. When 40,000 daily surfers that I worked hard to bring in are hitting the galleries, then no questions, smutserver are making money. I don't need to attract anymore attention to that by dwarfing my ads - the gallery is styled for me, it's made how I want it to be, how I want it to look and to my specification. The header and footers are still there, so if the surfer wants it, then they'll click.

I simply feel that I can't compete with a free movie site using size 2 or 3 text links. The only way that I can make money on freehosting is by offering something better than the free movie site, otherwise it's not worth my effort. If I can't do this, then for me the answer is simple - not to use freehosting, then neither me nor smutserver would be making money. That is what I mean when I'm talking about outshining the free host banners.

I'm not bankrupting anyone here, I'm not cheating anyone, I have no problem with a freehost making money but at the end of the day, it should be my ads that are the focal point of the gallery. I simply build galleries to how I like them, until I feel comfortable with them... and everyone wins - although maybe me more than the freehost.

I make just about enough of my free hosted galleries alone to live off of, even though I don't do this full time (yet) (!) ... clearly these selling techniques are working. I have preferred submit passes, I'm listed just about everywhere and I'm not blacklisted anywhere, as you'll see my practices are only fair. I'm not trying to lecture anyone on the subject of how to cheat free hosting, so no worries Lightning.

I play the game fair and that's all that matters... I don't break any the free host AUP and my accounts stay live.

Rivux, the only way to make money with galleries is through practice, practice, practice. Find something that works for you and exploit it like a cheap whore.

I always welcome a decent discussion on just about any topic. I also want to thank you for keeping this professional and not turning it into another piss thread.. Just to fill you in on my background briefly, I ve been in the adult biz over 6 years now. I started like most everyone, building galleries on free hosts, and running TGP's, I still have over 2000 galleries floating out there, and still run a tgp.. Yes the Hosting is my primary business for the past year, but I do understand all the daily concerns of the gallery and free site makers...

So I see things from both sides, and I try to run all my businesses as fair and honest as I can...

The lesbian galleries have seemed to work the best for me, but I know that it is different for everyone. The worst so far has been my ebony galleries, for some reason, they just havent worked out all that well. It is probably due to the fact I do not know how to promote them well, but still, the lesbians work well and I no doubt dont promote them well either
