The great fuckup - TopBucks and their disappearing sales

I AM NOT STARTING A PISSING THREAD!

I know that people have experienced disappearing sales since the implementation of the new Topbucks program, as it's scrawled over just about every webmaster board out there. But apparently, there has been an explanation for this... which is odd, 'cause I haven't heard anything.

So... what was the explanation?

I too have suffered from disappearing sales just this morning. I checked the stats this morning, go back now 9 hours later and there are less sales than before. Okay so I emailed tech support, I'm expecting my money to be replaced, but I'm not really expecting an explanation from them. I'm webmaster 1123 if topbucks read this.

The explanation could be, for those on the active program, that the member has cancelled... but for us on the per trial program, no chance.

Also, if sales are disappearing due to some kind of error... would that error not make it possible for sales to be ommited completely? Let's discuss.

They're a good sponsor and we all know it, so no piss please

The problem has happened to me twice. It seems to happen around midnite.

Here is an example:

before: http://www.teenfix.com/topbucksa.jpg

(now) after: http://www.teenfix.com/topbucksb.jpg

I am confused: http://www.teenfix.com/topbucksc.jpg

Now, let me say that the first time it happened - I lost a sale for UltraVideos, but at the almost exact same time - got one for iTeens.

Also, in the example posted - although I lost the sale on the 30th, I had one on the first with no clicks listed.

There does seem to be a problem, but in both cases it happened to me - I am not sure if I really lost anything other than getting paid later for one sale. Why one sale changed - I do not know. It doesn't really make sense, but we all know they are honest - I was just happy to finally be converting some. I hope they will fix things as I get a little worried that things will disappear and not come back.

Also, I am confused as to why only 5 sales are shown in green - shouldn't it be 8/9?

I am more confused than worried, but I hope they improve things, as it seems clicks are always disappearing around midnight, but then coming back later.

TopBucks is my best sponsor so far. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone, but I do hope they fix what you are talking about.

Hi everyone... In regards to the stats problem. We at TopBucks are aware of it and our programmers are currently working on solving it. YOU WILL BE PAID FOR ALL MISSING SIGN-UPS no matter what. All sign-ups are logged, we just need to display the stats correctly all the time. Again, you will be paid for all of your sign-ups.

We apologize for the trouble this may have caused and I re-assure you that the problem will be fixed asap. Feel free to contact me for any further information.

Chris R --

I'm confused too... the three links you provided, supposedly to screenshots of your stats? all now lead me to iteens. Uh, why is that? I too have had some disappearing signups, so I'm curious to see how others are fairing.

Allison --

Would you be able to post your email so webmasters can contact you? I sent my email about this to [email protected] a few days ago, but I've gotten no response as yet.

Allison,

Don't mean to conduct business on a public board but...

I have more sales today than yesterday, so how am I to know that the disappearing sale has been replaced, and not just replaced with another sale? If you see what I mean, the new topbucks system is somewhat shakey.

Methinks that there wasn't enough testing carried out - though I put my faith that topbucks will replace the lost sales, it doesn't create a good company image.

Hi again!

Well here is my e-mail if you'd like to direct any inquiries to me:
[email protected]
I understand that it may appear that Topbucks did not perform enough testing on the stats program. However, not to seem like we are giving excuses, I can offer an explanation. The stats package that we are using had already been previously used with other similar programs and there were no problems. We tested the stats package with our program, but the bug was not detected since testing with 20 webmasters is not the same as testing with 500 webmasters.
We heard yesterday that the bug was officially fixed and there were no reported problems last night.
I know this may not reflect well for our business image, but I would like to express that TopBucks truly realizes the value of webmasters like yourselves. We have always taken pride in providing excellent service, accurate pay, and great marketing resources to webmasters. We intend to maintain a good reputation and do what we can to regain your confidence. That is why we will be paying our webmasters the full amount for their sign-ups.

Thanks,
Allison

Allison, I am sorry that I did not have the pleasure of meeting you in Vegas. Well we may have seen each other, but just didnt meet. However Kevin is a good friend and we did meet, in fact Kevin paid for Mrs Lightnings and My passes to the show.
I am doing a pretty fair amount of traffic with you guys, and I would Like to just let everyone Know, That TopCash, top Bucks...etc..is run by some great people, and they would never cheat anyone. Like we all know scripts sometimes have bugs with them, and as top bucks now realizes, and Iam confident they have or are correcting any problems.
Also They throw a very Killer Party at these shows..

Allison I am sorry but exactly today I noticed again lost 2 sign-ups from previous days, and todays one not counted to totals. (rev id 1286)

I was talking about these problems with Kevin and other people from Topbucks already one week ago and it is still the same:

1. Disappearing sign-ups
2. Numbers of sign-up per day not corresponding with numbers of sign-up per period
3. Totally not-working per day click tracking (some days show simply zero)
4. I can only dream about sign-up referrals, which worked nicely on ctc

You have to understand that unconsistent stats info makes it very discouraging when promoting your sites, moreover there is nothing to rely on - which sign-ups should I consider to be there and which not (those on graphs or those in text statistics summary info...) - It will be pretty important what info will be issued checks based on.

I am sorry - After Allison made her post I took it down - I have a 404 trap and that is where it led to at the time.

I didn't think about it, but for those that want to see them I will leave them up unti the weekend and then replace them with blank pages.

Again sorry.

Hi XM,

Yes, we were mistaken about the bug being "officially fixed" on Monday. Yesterday we heard again that it was fixed and this morning we did not recieve any complaints. We are going to wait a few more days and watch to make sure that it is "officially fixed". I can understand your frustration and trust us that we are as frustrated as you are. We are doing the best we can in this situation.

Although there is or was an error it is not cheating webmasters in their sales or paychecks. TopBucks is paying webmasters for the discrepancies. We will soon be releasing more information about the problem.

Again, we apologize for this unfortunate situation.

-Allison

Thanks for your posts, it would be helpful if we knew how this was going to all work out - will you be going through your logs and adding a seperate check, or will it be added to the stats?

The problem has not been fixed. Stats are still not showing correctly - if I try to pull up stats for yesterday - it shows 0 clicks.

The bar for the 11th has not even appeared yet. I lost at least three sales yesterday. I am not really concerned - it is just that it would be helpful so we can plan our marketing.

I have always been very happy with TopCash/Bucks, I am just looking forward to accurate stats so I can plan stuff accordingly.

Hi Chris,

Just to let you know we will be going through and adding the missing sign-ups when the checks are printed. So you will be receiving one check for the full amount.

I understand your complaints about wanting the corrected stats in order to plan your marketing. We are doing the best we can in order to fix all of the stats problems. We want you to be able to use the stats to plan effective marketing as well, that is what really turned us on to this software to begin with.

I'll be in touch to keep everyone updated.

Thanks.
