Can not count the number of gun shots that have gone off in close proximety to where I was when growing up.

Most memorable was a gun fight on the campus when I was in college, 4 or 5 guys had gotten into it over drugs and the school was not to far away from where they were dealing. Ak-47, tech 9 and mack 11 are the guns of choice in new orleans, the ak sends bullets end over end, so no one is safe.

Easter in the parking lot of Bell Pram. mall there was a fair. Gun shots rang out on one side, we all ran and shots came from my left, so we changed course again, all of us hopped in the car and went around the back side of the mall to the less populated area so we could get out on the back streets, someone met their end there. One of the most interesting scenes in my life, people going into the movies, families standing there deciding what movie to see, to their left a dead body, a guy about 23 or so shot to death.

Seen a few killings in action, had a few show offs point guns at me, I never really thought I would die like that so I can not say I ever felt fear of death, just seems like I have "miles to go before I sleep" When you grow up in the murder capital of the world things like this happen all the time.

I have been in many situations where I thought I might have been killed if I wouldnt have made the right decision at the right time. Example: a couple of times this gang tried to set me and my friends up, they had a scarface like table of coke and a keg to get us there then I noticed bats and hammers by all of them so I quickly made an excuse and left.

I was in two car wrecks where I almost died. One I was in ICU for 3 weeks. The other I was unconsious for 45 minutes.

I think I almost killed myself drinking a couple of times too.

Yes one and the same, some of her many movies including Resovoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction and most of Quintins Terantinos movies. She was not even into that then, this is going back a few years. Also Rikki Rachtman was the host of the headbangers ball on mtv and was on Love Line with Dr Dru for years.

Got to love LA.....

I came within minutes of death and was actually on my way to punchout. When I was 18 I got into a group fight against some local rival H.S. kids. There were about 10 of us and 10 of them. After all was said and done, they were running and I was bleeding. I got stabbed 3 times; once right below my right arm through my rib cage, once in my stomach, and once in my thigh. They landed a medi-vac helicopter and had to clear out the movie theater so they could land the chopper.

While in the air, I heard the flight tech say, "We're losing him!". By that time I was in severe shock and had already lost a lot of blood (some still stains the walk area at the outdoor mall as a macabre reminder). Once I heard him say that I honestly remember seeing my life flash before me like some grotesque slideshow. I remember seeing my family, friends, and distant memories. I don't recall seeing a light or a tunnell but I did see myself from outside my body.

I was kneeling down next to my body and I could actually see myself unconcious. To be 100% honest, it was one of the most peaceful things I have ever encountered. I was at total peace with myself.

I finally arrived at the hospital with a punctured lung, ruptured instestines, and a severed ligament in my thigh. They slapped 89 internal stitches and 36 staples into me and I finally recovered. A grim reminder of my childhood.

So yes, I have experienced one and it was the most peacful thing ever. That is one of the reasons I don't fear death. Peace and tranquility without a hint of fear or pain.

Damn Rob...glad you are still around, you are a great guy!:thumbsup

Holy crap, that's one story.

-Well, first encounter.. I was waterskiing and I fell down and the rope tangled around my legs and my father dragged me for about 3minutes without looking back(was drinking beers + talking to friends:thumbsup ). I almost drowned but one of his friends spotted me and saved the day

-Next, got alchohol poisoning when I was extremely young. Overdrank wayy too much. Bottle of JW Red Label + big bottle of Absolute Vodka+ Corona + weed, between me and ONE friend. I was around 13 at the time. Was in detox for a while then put into a Mental Instit. For some reason they thought me overdrinking was attempted suicide on my part, that's how bad it was heh.

-In a boat accident, assholes were drunk and crashed right into us going 30mph, i was asleep and the oncoming boat hit my foot.

There's my stories, nothing too exciting..

Good thread BTW! :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

Some dumb fuck almost ran into my car a few days ago. He wasn't even running a red light and trying to brake or anything (and another car was behind him), I don't know if they were chasing each other or wtf but it seemed like he was trying to hit me on purpose...

Also when I was a kid I was walking down the street with my mom and a piece of brick fell down from the second story and was an inch away from hitting my head... The people were arguing in the balcony and somehow it fell and almost hit me...

Also after many many MANY years of procrastinating I am FINALLY getting my wisdom teeth pulled and will be put under (first time ever), so if you don't see me posting on GFY the week after this Friday, that means that I died during oral surgery :helpme :helpme

Those are some real crazy stories. All I have is that I was in a traffic accident in high school where the school van went off the road and hit the only tree on a hillside in front of a big ass cliff. Would have died for sure. I did end up getting amnesia for a couple days and still cant remember certain things that I should know.

My brother in law's father told him of a certain day when he was in Vietnam where he should have died 3 times in one day. The first time a bullet hit him in the helmet, but didnt go through. The second time he was hit in the chest by a bullet that was from a fire fight that was a long way away. The bullet had lost so much speed that it just bounced off him. The last time is when his buddy and him switched positions on guard and the buddy was killed by a sniper. Thats a shitty day.

Mine is the following.

20 years old (spun my car out on hwy 37 aka Blood Alley drunk as Fuck. Luckily no police came and i got away with a few scrapes and brusies and I fucked my car up pretty good.

25 Years old (almost got hit by a car while walking down the street and talking to Brett Favre (Green Bay) on St Patricks Day. I had been playing Bagpipes at several bars and Brett was talking to me about bagpipes etc. I wasn't really paying attention and i almost walked out in front of a car but he pulled me back just in time. Needless to say I bought him beer the rest of the night

29 Burglar Broke into my house and almost beat me with a Crow Bar. Luckily I escaped and got the Police. Funny thing is when they came he was still there. Turns out he just got out of prison and was a parole violater.

You are accident prone bro!

:) Thanks. I was hoping to read a few good near death/out of body experiences in this thread but at least we got one good one.

The closest I come to death is every night when I sleep.

That might sound like a wise ass reply but this is why I say that...

For me death means leaving my physical body permanently.
Now every night when I (or anyone else) sleeps we leave our body temporarily. But don't take my word for it. :winkwink:

i was 19.....on a 'crotch rocket' on the back of the back, no helmet (just thought we were goin for a short ride around town @ 25 mph but he surprised me by jumping on the highway)

we did 125+mph...weaving in between and around cars, he almost hit a soda can in the road, he swirved and damn near lost control of the bike (thank god hes been riding bikes professionaly since he was 8 yrs old)

no doubt that if we crashed, our heads would have been splattered like melons on the pavement. :(

Damn those are some scary stories!!!

The closest I got to death was when I got into a car crash with my ex bf. The car was totaly ruined but we got out fine.

And my house burned down last year 2 weeks after I bought it. I was supossed to sleep there that night but luckely my (now ex) BF said that he wanted me to spend one last night at his house because I didn't have the alarm on yet. and we would do that on saturday. When the police called me I thought they were joking, but seeing my house in that state was very creepy. They told me that I would not have been able to get out alive if i would've been in there :(

Interesting read for sure, good thread!

The closest I have come is being robbed in a public park bathroom by a gang. Everybody else saw them coming and yelled out and took off running, my friends and I were stuck in the damn bathroom. They had machettis and guns but we didn't really have a lot of stuff on us. I didn't get the feeling they were going to seriously do anything but it was scary for sure.

Another time I was walking down the beach and got robbed once again, I was by myself and the guy pulled a gun on me and nobody was around at all.

I have also been around gun fire and stuff but was never aimed at or anything, so I never felt like it was really my time.

Alot of people in here have some crazy stories!
