Who says the Canadian authorities are uptight?
So, this is my first trip to Canada for the Qwebec Expo this past weekend and I completely wasn't thinking about the obscenity laws.
Myself, my hubby, Chipmunk from Sexmoney and Michelle from Sex.com are strolling downtown to get some lunch. Chipmunk spots a photo op with a local motorcycle cop and after a few moments of gesturing and rapid English he manages to convey to the cop what kind of picture he wants to take with him. I snap a couple of photos and another cop pulls up about that time and asks where we are all from. We go around the group admitting to our hometowns and then the next question is what are you doing up here...
Well, I told him we were there for a convention and he asked what kind... my mind was on crepes and fondue rather than Canadian obscenity laws and I blurted out a porn convention. He didn't seem to understand what the meaning of that word was and we were all trying to convey the meaning of the word to him. Finally, I reached in my bag and pulled out one of my brochures to show him. I held it up in front of him and said "This". He looked at my brochure (which contains thumbs from sites like Piss Mops, Cock Brutality, etc.) then he looked at me and then a huge smile came over his face while he eagerly told us that he knew what he would be doing later that night.
Only after we got back to the hotel did I remember what Steve Sweet had been through with his content and how strikingly dangerous the situation could have become for me. I'm glad we found a couple of horny cops though and I didn't spend the week in the Quebec jail.
