MMX really makes a difference. MMX2 a little overkill right now, but who knows further down the road.

So precisely what is it that interests postbots these days?

Personally I would recommend the following large scale setup (all dependant on the specfics of the project of course):

Database Server:

? Dual XEON P4/2.6 Ghz
? OS - Unix,Linux,Win2k
? 4 GIG ECC RAM
? 4x 73 GIG SCSI Storage Raid 10 config
? Offsite Daily Backups

Content Server:

? Dual XEON P4/2.6 Ghz
? OS - Unix,Linux,Win2k
? 4 GIG ECC RAM
? 4x 73 GIG SCSI Storage Raid 5 config
? Offsite Daily Backups

All behind a GIG Load balanced multiple Web Server farm consisting of 8 to 10 (to start) Web Servers configured as such:

? Dual XEON P4 2.6 Ghz
? OS - Unix,Linux,Win2k
? 2 GIG ECC RAM
? 36 GIG SCSI Storage

Single or Dual should suffice (for the web servers) dependant on the amount of requests the site is getting and how much dynamic content is being served...note you can add web serves to the server farm at any given time to handle the requests accordingly. Depending upon sepcific requirements you may want to go with a secondary content server, secondary DB server & possibly MYSQL clustering servers depending upon DB loads.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions
