    I am fucking livid

    One of my alleged "friends" punched my girl in the stomach tonight over a piece of fucking sheet music that she had forgotten to bring him. Out of NOWHERE!

    fucking shitstain, he'd swear he never ever touched her.

    what can I do? Can I call the police over this? report it as assault? what offense would this be in this matter?

Have her call 911, or the nearest equiv. given where she is, have the medics come and check her out. At least then there will be a report of said 'issue'. Then take it from there.

                                                  Definitely a good idea to call the cops so a police report can be filed, and make sure to get lots of pictures as well in case you plan on pressing charges in the future.

                                                  By the way...are you positive that this was all over the sheet music? Seems to me like there could be something else that she's not telling you. Have you heard his side of the story yet? (not that there's ANY excuse for him doing this, whatever she did...but still, the whole thing sounds rather odd)

                                                                  There is nothing else going on but the fucking sheet music. He's played some sort of instrument and my girl borrowed sheet music from him to practice on the piano, and hasn't returned it to him yet. That was his excuse.

                                                                  I realize that I probably don't have much say in this, I will urge my girl to press charges against him.

It is not an assault...it is a battery...assault is verbal...but usually there is an assault involved with a battery...thus the offense would probably be misdemeanor "assault and battery".
