The only answer is the bigotry from without.

Kerry is going to win.

Unless:

1. The Supreme Court gets to decide.

2. Bush declares martial law.

3. There is a major terrorist attack in the US within 15 days of the election.

I agree on all of these points. But he really does not have to declare Martial Law. He has a signed act of war, and there is a provision that he does not have to give up the seat as president, if he feels that it is not in the best interest of the US.

Now how do you think that he would feel about that?

nicchick 09-06-2004 01:14 PM

If you look at polls, the only one worthwhile is Zogby.com
He was the only pollster to correctly predict that the GOP would make big gains in 2002 and that Gore would win the popular vote in 2000. Rasmussen had Bush over Gore by 49%-40% in his final 2000 poll. Most people in the industry think that he has a pro GOP bias of 3-5 %. Remember, he is Fox news pollster.

Kerry is an outstanding debater. He came from 7 points back against Mass. Gov. Weld to win by 6 after those debates- and Weld was a much better debater than Bush.

Also, 2 months is a lifetime in politics. 2 weeks ago, Kerry looked unbeatable and it shifted almost overnight. A lot will depend on events that occur in the next 8 weeks. 7 Marines were killed overnight in Iraq- the worst loss in 5 months. We'll hit the 1000 killed mark between now and then. Kerry is taking off the gloves and is starting to question the relationship between Bush and the Saudis. Also, he will start pushing for more stem cell research
and thats an area that a lot of Republicans disagree with Bush on.
That may be his ace in the hole - Zogby says that Bush could lose 20% of his voters if that is made a real issue.

Plus, there may very well be indictments handed down in the Valerie Plame CIA outing case, with 1 or more administration officials being responsible, and that there was a coverup all the way to the top. Remember Bush hiring a private attorney ?

So it appears than Bush hit a high a week ago while Kerry was at his low point. On the other hand, Drudge had a link yesterday to a story saying that Bin Laden was on the verge of being captured.
That might not necessarily be good for Bush in the long run.
Winston Churchill was extremely popular with the British people in WW2. As soon as the war ended, he lost re-election in a landslide.People might feel that if Bin Laden is captured or killed that the "Threat" is over and want to move on. But if he's caught within 2 weeks of the election, then Bush is a shoe-in.

The bottom line is that it is still way too early to tell. People forget that in 1980, Carter was leading Reagan up until 9 days before the election.

Michaelious 09-06-2004 01:41 PM

Not even sure anymore

WarChild 09-06-2004 01:47 PM

I've been saying for a year Bush will most likely be re-elected. I still think that will be the case.

EviLSuperstaR 09-06-2004 01:52 PM

Don't worry folks. If Bush steals the elections again a Chinese-European coalition will liberate you by bombing your houses, torturing you in prisons and rob your natural resources.

And don't complain, you will be free!

Chinese-European coalition bombing the USA. :1orglaugh

There are currently enough air craft carriers in the vicinity of China to make sure no planes go anywhere.

And as for the Europeans. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

"Comedy" from a terrorist-whipped coward from Spain. :1orglaugh

EviLSuperstaR 09-06-2004 02:24 PM

I know, for the stupid amongst the Americans you have to repeat things a couple of times a day and preferably on FAUX news. Here we go again:

The spanish people got betrayed by their own conservative government that kissed Bush's ass to participate in a senseless war over lies even though over 90% of the spanish knew the war in Iraq had nothing to do with the war against terrorism (there was no terrorism in Iraq before the US invasion, not ties to it, nor WMD).

Socialists told from the start of the war-about-lies that they would pull out spanish troops out of Iraq and place them in Afghanistan as they didn't want to become part of an imperialist invasion over oil resources.
Then the terrorist attacks happened in Madrid, the conservatives tried to control the media so that the could lie again by claiming for days that ETA and only ETA was responsible for the attacks. They disrespected not only the victims but the entire people of spain to save their own ass.

When it became clear that the ruling conservatives were witholding information from the public for their own electoral purposes, people took to the streets and with a record turnout they voted a lying government out of power. That's democracy. Perhaps something that should also be considered in the US, but unfortunately Americans are too easy to brainwash and too much of a coward to stand up against a lying government.

Now spanish troops move to Afghanistan, do you think Al-Qaeda is happy with that?

Some of you panic easily! So Georgie has an 11 point lead in ONE or TWO polls.

The term "bounce in the polls" MEANS that it will go UP after the convention and THEN come DOWN! Look at things in one week for a more accurate poll of where things lie.

Secondly, only ONE pollster (earlier noted) was accurate in the 2000 election. It wasn't gallup, time/cbs usa etc etc. It was ZOGBY! And the LATEST Zogby poll shows Bush with ONLY A TWO POINT LEAD!!

"President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney have taken a two point lead over Massachusetts Senator John Kerry and North Carolina Senator John Edwards (46%-44%), according to a new Zogby America poll. The telephone poll of 1001 likely voters was conducted from Monday through Thursday (August 30-September 2, 2004) during the Republican National Convention in New York City. Overall results have a margin of sampling error of +/-3.2."

http://www.zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=857

Plus as have already been noted Kerry is known for being a STRONG finisher! And Bush is too smug for his own good.

Bush will lose in November!

He did have one..not as big as Bush's..but depending on what poll..most of them gave him a 3-7% lead over Bush.

Clicky_Bucks 09-06-2004 07:27 PM

It's over. It's funny to hear the dummycrats still holding on for all their worth. Nowadays, I've been hearing a lot of Liberals saying they are voting Nadar or Libertarian since Kerry has no chance.

It's sorta sad that dummycrats have been reduced to holding their breaths, waiting for the 1000th killed American so they can all rejoice, thinking they have a chance.

The highest that I heard was a 2%-4%...when in the past normal spikes are usually around 8% and as high as 15%. So he did not come across well at the convention.

For starters, I don't want a religious fanatic who thinks that God is talking to him, making decisions that affect millions of peoples lives. The Christian Conservatives think that a bunch of zygotes in a petri dish are really just tiny people, so Bush puts limits on stem cell research.

Secondly, his Attorny General is so puritanical that he wants to cover up naked statues and is obsessed with putting an end to any and all erotica. Webmasters will go to jail, not for CP but for improper record keeping, while people who reveal the names of undercover CIA agents are given a pass.

Thirdly, after 9/11, 90% of Americans and most of the world were all behind Bush. In 3 years, he has turned that around completely. Half the country and 90% of the world absolutely HATE Bush. He's tearing the country apart.

He's shifted the income tax burden from the rich to the middle class.

He used his fathers influence to get to the top of a long waiting list to get into the national guard. Someone got "Bumped" by Bush and had to go to Vietnam, because they didn't have a rich family.

If none of this bothers you, by all means vote for Bush.

I'm firmly convinced that the reason a lot of people like Bush is because he has the same I.Q. that the average American has.
Everyone knows someone like Bush. He's like a brother-in-law who has been to re-hab and has straightened out.

Guys like Kerry and Clinton are obviously much more intelligent than the average and people feel stupid by comparison. Personally, I think the guy running the country should have a

I'm sorry you can't even compare Kerry to Clinton. Kerry isn't as intellegent or charisimatic as Clinton.

I think Clinton was a very good democratic version of Regan. He has charm, wit and he knows his shit. Kerry on the other hand has none of that. When the war in Iraq started, Kerry voted to send troops. Months later, he was voting against a bill that would help pay for supplies and other items the troops he helped send over there needed. He talks about the poor and how they need to be helped, while he and his RICH wife worry about how to spend their millions.

What we need is a president who knows what its like to get bitchslapped by some chick in a bar at 2am. Someone who has picked themselves up by their bootstraps and attempted to make something of themselves. Someone who will have the best interests of the Adult Webmaster at heart (Oh, and its stupid for you to base your vote on the fact that it could be bad for YOUR business, even if its good for the rest of the country....)

a lot can happen in 2 months.

georgie is already trying to duck the debates. Kitty Kelly is coming out with a nice, trashy bush family bio. Former Lt. Gov Ben Barnes claims he's the guy that got dubya in the guard. Michael Moore is releasing F/911 on dvd in october.

oh yeah, and the poverty rolls are up, jobs are still down, the debt grows and grows, the abu ghraib scandal is not over and

I agree with the first statement but you cant put Kerry and Clinton in the same boat. Clinton was bullshitter who was VERY smart and in total power but still lived his life like he was one of us. He chased tail and probably smoked a little, but I am sure he didnt inhale. Got head from interns and was just a flat out slut...
