Need a .info domain list ?

Some are grabbing free .INFO domains from DomainSite.com's special, and others are taking advantage of the discounts as low as $4. If you want help with compiling a list, just let me know and I can probably whip up a few.

DomainSite registered over 10,000 new domains yesterday alone.. probably all the free .INFO domains.

Over 14,000 new .info names registered in 1 day, compared to around 29,000 new .com names. A huge jump.

Darn, I missed this, and now domainsite seems to be down. I think they've figured out their market, $0 is about the amount I'd feel comfortable investing in a slew of .info domains. I'd ask for more details, but I guess it's moot at this point.

at dd24.ney it's free. When you want to renew over 1 year, you have to pay the normal renewal fee indeed.

Wow, yep, but with free URL forwarding and mail forwarding for a year, what a great service for spammers and scammers the world over! I bet .info will be the TLD of choice for online fraud for the next year. From their site:

Starting September 1st until September 30th, you have the possibility of registering up to 25 .INFO Domains free of charge for the first year through our system.

Additionally with the FREE .INFO registration you will also receive the following services FREE-OF-CHARGE: URL- and Email-Forwarding, WHOIS-Updates, DNS-Hosting, Sublevel-Domains respectively the possibility to enter your own Mailservers, NameServers or IP-Address.

I wouldn't trust anyone who offers domains for free.Pay a few bucks for your .info or .biz domain and you can at least be sure that you don't get fucked with. For free companies are the first to go down without notice and no ability to control your domains anymore.

dd24 is around for ages. I also got some good support of them over the last few years.

John, I agree with your general advice, but in this case it looks like it's Afilias, the folks who own all of .info, that are allowing their registrars to register 25 free names per person. "We are glad to offer you this special .INFO promotion in cooperation with the official registry Afilias."

That said, your point still stands, it could be an indication that .info is losing money for Afilias. They also manage .org and some CC TLDs though, so I don't think the domains will disappear. Even if Afilias went bankrupt, or they wanted to shed unprofitable TLDs, I reckon they'd sell them to other registries.
