Being in the middle but leaning towards Kerry (strongly), I dunno if this changed my opinion at all...

Most of the convention was about 9/11 it seemed (it's what sticks in my mind anyway about it as a general impression). Which is a bit disturbing I think. They promised not to use 9/11 for political purposes, but maybe this isn't considered a political purpose, maybe just the real definition of his presidency.

I really came away from this convention thinking that we're staying the course on every single issue thats come up. So I think if you were for Bush before the convention, you'll be for him after. And if you were for Kerry before the convention, you'll be with him after.

The democrats mostly used Carter to "bash" Bush, if you can call it that. Whereas the republicans seemed to use just about every main speaker to bash Kerry. Thats consistent, so no sway one way or the other.

I did think it was odd how the president lead off with comments about 9/11, then promised that we were looking forward to the future and not to the past ;)

No change for me from this, but the debates are on the horizon

The character issue is huge. The biggest line in his speech was: "You know where I stand." That is true. The Republicans may be over emphasizing the flip-flop aspect of kerry, but it really is true. Kerry changes his mind with the weather.

Oh that reminds me, on c-span 2 earlier they had clinton's speech at the 96 convention and I flipped over to it while he was calling on lawmakers to increase funding to fight terrorism. He called on them to increase wire-tap capabilities on terror suspects to all their phones (any of this sound familiar?)

It was a very weird thing to juxtapose that Clinton speech with the Pataki speech tonight where he said the prior administration failed to tougheen laws on terrorism.. very very weird indeed!

Bush flip flop more. and when Bush does take a stand that not really good. If you make BAD decisions and people you hire to give you sage advice are IGNORED are you being a good leader because you don't change you view? NOPE.

Do you know anything about statistical deviation. You know I hope these fucking moron Bush lover do get their guy. I will be laughing in 4 years when I'm proven right. I predicted before he was "elected" that he would invade Iraq with 3 years. He did. I predicted LAST Novemebr that by election day 2004 we would have over 1000 dead. I was laughed at and called a moron by Bush dick suckers. Hmmmm WHO is right? ME, as per usual.

I hate Bush with a passion, I do think it was the best speech he ever delievered.

But I don't believe a fucking word of it. I heard all of this compasionate conservatism and bi-partisin bullshit 4 years ago and that all eneded the day he took the oath of office and now it suddenly comes back up? Not to mention he talked a lot about radical new Republican plans that sounded to me a lot like Clinton plans the Republicans passed on 8 years ago (now they are for them?) and I heard some quotes from John Kerry's speech, although Bush was using them as his own.

Very good delievery, he hit a homerun, but only to those who don't have a mind of their own to really think about what he said. I believe it was 100% bullshit and if re-elected we will never see any of it come to light.

And I know this, because he is right about one thing, I know EXACTLY where he stands

No see you don't like Bush so not only are you a moron, but you are a traitor and shall be reported to the Department of Homeland Security. Just like Arni said the other night ONLY republicans are right.

I too hate Bush with a passion, and even though I do support Kerry, I can honestly say it was a basic "ho hummer". Yeah, he had a couple of good lines "from the buildings destroyed a nation arose" but even the commentators said it was too long, very rambling, and was more like a state of the union address.

Had had no specific plan for revitalizing the economy, health care, education (though his aides said he would) and even the commentators (though I'm sure FOX said differently..this was CBS), it was just a "laundry list" that they had heard before.

So..overall I would give it..oh a C-

Well, I guess it all depends on perspective... I don't know if many voters can be swung really.... To me I think the economy is on the right track... GDP is growing at the biggest rate in 20 years.... Jobs will come... health care, i think individual savings plans are better then promsing something you cant do.. like health care for all... education, he already passed the biggest reform in 20 years?

But, I guess if none of that is good enough for you or you dont see it that way.. And you think the war in Iraq is wrong no matter what then you wont like his speech or his presidency...

This country has 1.8 million FEWER jobs now than when he took office.
He has started a war in Iraq that was the wrong war at the wrong time with the wrong people.
He has served as a lightening rod to attract literally thousands of more terrorists against the U.S. with the Iraqi war. He has made this country MUCH more UNSAFE due to this.
Personal privacy and freedoms are being frittered away on an almost daily basis thanks to the "Patriot Act" and the actions of his Attorney General.
He failed to fully fund the "No Child left behind" act.
He refuses to deal with global warming.
He refuses to allow more stem cell research.
He doesn't even want the elderly to buy cheaper drugs in Canada and doesn't give a crap about health care for all in this country.

THOSE above are just STARTERS for what he has done wrong in his administration!

I have to say having the whole effect wear off on me I am not so impressed anymore. I think what took me for surprise is that the only time he really fucked up and started to studder like a moron is when the young lady was beaten and drug off the floor by much larger, older, men in plain view.

Never happened at the DNC Way to go Bush!

Hey wait, it happened several more times as well

Your Opinions on Bush's speech
He managed to deliver it without a load of "speaking in tongues".

He offered absolutely nothing new, apart from a series of "proposals" which he never managed to consider in his term of office up to this time.

The logic of introducing "hope" for a "new start" with programs that would clearly cost billions at a time when the country is facing the largest deficit in history and still maintaining a policy of tax cuts is consistant with the majority of all the decisions of this admin - warped, and very "unamusing".

Almost all the proposals containing "hope" were the same, often word for word, that were promised at the last election and never delivered.

This was a well written speech for the purposes of which it was intended and conveyed, well... still more hope for those stupid enough to listen. It showed what a nice guy George "really" is and plently other ingredients.

It is perhaps "troubling", or should be, to some US people when they hear this guy talking about "giving liberty" to the world. Can someone nudge him and let him know a very high number of countries in this world have more "liberty" than those currently in the US?

Can someone also tell him that he needs to "accept" terrorism exists and always will, and he is not going to eradicate it? Because the US was attacked on the "homeland" for the first time, does not mean this is his "excuse" to be re-elected. Other countries have had acts of terrorism for many years and never needed this degree of fuss over a "commander in chief".

The ommissions from the speech were loud and clear in areas like Iraq, healthcare and education.

The constant silly comments about the "opposition" were meaningful - in fact, more meaningful than the face value. It is clear there is little else to be proud of during George's term of office, else they would be milking that cow for every last drop and there would be "no contest".

The speech in total? Utter "face" and orchestrated fraud on a people who deserve a damned lot more than this level of crap in a government, but "nicely worded".

Yep

Apparently several protestors got inside the convention and during parts of the speech one by one they would begin to yell out and instead of being allowd to peacefully protest their disagreements they were all beaten and hauled off the floor.

Yet I have not heard one word in the media about these people. They are likely being held in the basement of the Garden for all we know.

Also incase you didn't hear yesterday a federal judge ruled that more than 450 protestors were wrongfully arrested and charged in N.Y. and they were to be released immedialty. The court levied a $1,000 fine against the city for every hour for every person being illegally held in custody.

Just the health center in every community he "proposed" would cost more than he could pull out of anyone's ass. Why would we need those? He also said yesterday (or it may have been day before but reported yesterday) that most people get health coverage through their jobs. Too bad the average person won't question why he never mentioned WMD or how he's going to correct being the first administration since Hoover to lose jobs.

Speaking of demonstrators, there was one man who was frantic that his daughter was long overdue returning from a movie. Turns out they snagged her in a mass "grab" and she couldn't contact her dad till she was "processed". I have a feeling we are going to hear many stories of people being grabbed who were merely observers or passers by.

THOSE above are just STARTERS for what he has done wrong in his administration!
global warming? it is actually getting cooler . . .and over 100 years it has fluctuated about one degree or something

How has the Patriot Act effected you?

No one is stopping the elderly from going to Canada to buy drugs, they just can't mail them here.

Socialized health care is not a solution, I don't care what you say

Well, I did read that there were MORE arrested at THIS Republican convention than at the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago which blew my mind!

lackluster

in fact, i found -except for a couple of nasty jibes by sycophants- the whole convention felt kind of blah. too scripted. too underwhelming.
