That's 337,000 in Lower Manhattan area and travel industry alone.

Surely there must be more.

Even if that estimate is valid (it may be over, or under, estimating), remember that Bush himself claimed that his tax cuts would produce 300,000+ jobs every month from the inception of the cuts until the end of 2004.

Here's the data on how well he's been able to fulfill on that promise:

Quite frankly, I find someone invoking 9-11 as the reason behind every failure of policy cowardly and insincere. These are numbers laid out by Bush when the white house, the senate AND congress are all controlled by republicans. If you can't come through on your promises when there's no major obstacles to doing so, then those promises are obviously bogus.

Not only has he failed to live up to his country's expectations, he's failed to live up to his own.

But as usual, Bush is much more caught up in the Iraqi war to really even come up with any economic policy for our country except TAX CUTS!

And I don't know where you got the 1 million jobs lost from 9/11. Would love to see your source on that one.

It's a fact 1 million jobs were lost in the month after 911...

Ok, here is something to chew on about issues... On how its easy to promise...

Kerry last night in his speech threw all 3 of these at the people.... 1.) He is going to provide healthcare to everyone 2.) Tax Cuts for the Middle Class 3.) He then bitched about the current Adminstration Deficit

Now I don't know the details of his health care plan or his tax increase on the top 2%... But, something does not add up to me..

And the attack on NYC was 3 years ago! You are still going to argue that the loss in jobs that numbers a million are so are STILL due to 9/11???

You mean the 10% that actually pays taxes.

Do not start this rant about tax cuts for the 'rich'. Until you start paying in excess of $100K a year, you have no right to point fingers on tax issues.

The other issue is, he assumes everyone wants his health insurance. I do not want ANYTHING paid for by the government. They have proven time and time again, to be the biggest wasters of money.

They will give me health care, which I don't want, and then raise my taxes another 10%.

Fuck them.

I'm sure you'll let us all know when you've finished paving that section of highway, hired your personal police officer, opened up your own courthouse, equipped your own millitia...

Taxes are the dues you pay to live in a free society that protects you and provides a framework for commerce and law. Saying that you don't want to pay taxes is saying that you want to exploit all those services that everyone's paid for without giving back your fair share. It's unpatriotic, it's not fair, and it's just plain wrong.

Well, this was written in 8/2002 and was an ESTIMATION of what they THOUGHT would happen in the FUTURE.

I'd rather stick to CURRENT stats.

WHY HASN'T HE ALREADY DONE THIS THEN?
And he doesn't give ANY specifics. Pretty important on policy matters.

For how long? A couple of months until the offices lost in the trade towers got relocated and new people were hired to kill those in the towers?

This is a NON-ENTITY figure being thrown around of "1 million jobs lost due to 9/11". It was nothing more than speculation.

Man..if you pubes didn't have 9/11 as a fall back for EVERY argument (Iraq, the Economy, health care, etc), you'd have NOTHING to stand on would ya?

Uh... I think you meant to say "to replace those killed". Unless you know something I don't.
