Rc Boat Racing

I posted in other post that I spotted a New 2005 Ford Mustang on the way to the lake. We were going to the lake to run our Gas Powered RC RaceBoats. Some one stated they were curious as to what a $2000.00 RC boat looked like...

Above is a pick of an Insane Hydro (www.insaneboats.com) doing about 66mph on the radar gun... This boat has a watercooled 2 stroke engine thats about 27cc - motor is like a weedwacker/goped motor - the boat is about 4 ft long and 2 ft wide.. weighing about 16lbs with motor... This boat races in hydro classes.. we have a vbottom class.. hydro.. catamaran... crackerbox... etc...

I belong to North American Model Boaters Association (www.namba.com) and races are held all over for this hobby...

These boats are raced in oval tracks.. about 1/8 mile long with 40' diameter corners... 6 boats on course at once.. 6 laps... Speeds nearing 80mph...

schwinginnnnnnnn it !!!!

Do you guys have to be licensed to ride PWCs where you are?

Here in NY they just passed a law that requires EVERYONE to take a licensing course.

I've spent quite a bit of my time this year giving everyone who was too lazy to get licensed rides.

The RC boats run laps at about 70 mph average.
The pic above is doing about 66...

Some that run like drag racing .. in straight line.. do well over 100MPH....

No.. but I would not be opposed to that... we got some real nutcases out on the river in Parker... I mainly ride in the very early AM when they are all sleeping off their hangovers !!!

Yeah...I agree with the new law too. It's been a long time coming.

Those not having the licenses and getting pulled over have contributed a lot of cash to the county this year.

Boat racing is cool but I've always liked the helicopters.

Here is one of Powermasters sponsored pilots cutting his lawn.

I'm glad my little sister still sponsors James he's a great guy.

Planes and heliocopters are fun...

... but if one of my boats flip.. we usually just have to remove the sparkplug.... get water outta the motor... put the sparkplug back in..check the fuel for water...and restart...

you biff a plane or heliocopter and you are out some major coinage !!! Gravity Sucks !!

BIG B

PS. Ive got a couple of big RC boats for rough water.... they look like offshore racers... we run em at the river house... thats how I got started with the RC boats.. then I found this pond right next to my house and race them there... been hooked ever since...

Down the street from my shop is a RC boat racing team, you have inspired me to finally walk down there and see what they got.

Well if they are close to shore.. we use a fishing pole with 20lb line and a tennisball on the end...

We make lil hooks and put em on the boats to catch the fishline and you just reel em in

if they are too far to reach this way... at the river.. we use watercraft or our boat... at the pond.. where we race.. we have two lil rowboats.. and on race days.. they have 4hp outboards on em...!!!

most of the time... about half of the boats dont finish the races...
these races are crazy.. with real NASCAR style action...
its funner than hell !!!
