Warning Paypal Scam!!!! Read!!! Very Important!!!!!

I got an E-Mail today from [email protected] well apparently it was spoofed. See the E-Mail below:

------------------------------------------------
Dear valued Paypal member:

Paypal is committed to maintaining a safe environment for its community of buyers and seller. To protect the security of your account , Paypal employs some of the most advanced security systems in the world and our anti-fraud teams regularly screen the Paypal system for unusual activity.a

Recently, our Account Review Team identified some unusual activity in your account. In accordance with Paypal's User Agreement and to ensure that your account has not been compromised, access to your account was limited. This is a fraud prevention measure meant to ensure that your account is not compromised.

In order to secure your account and quickly restore full access, we may require some specific information from you for the following reason:

We would like to ensure that your account was not accessed by an unauthorized third party. Because protecting the security of your account is our primary concern, we have limited access to sensitive Paypal account features. We understand that this may be an inconvenience but please understand that this temporary limitation is for your protection.

We encourage you to login and restore full access as soon as possible. Should access to your account remain limited for an extended perid of time, it may result in further limitations on the use of your account.

However, failure to restore your records will result in account suspension. Please update your records on or before September 5, 2004.

Once you have updated your account records, your Paypal session will not be interrupted and will continues as normal.

To update your Paypal records click on the following link:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_update

Sincerely,
Paypal customer department!
Please do not reply to this e-mail. Mail sent to this address cannot be answered. For assistance, log in to your PayPal account and choose the "Help" link in the footer of any page.

To receive email notifications in plain text instead of HTML, update your preferences here.

----------------------------------------------

Now that link in the E-Mail actually goes here: http://219.117.228.247/update/index.htm

You can go to the link and no harm will be done. Notice how it PERFECTLY replicates the PayPal website. You can log in with any E-Mail / password you can think of and it acts as if you logged into your paypal account. I ALMOST fell for this scam when I saw how much information they were asking for. Feel free to check this out and WARN EVERYBODY not to give any information to this bogus PayPal website!!!!

If anybody gets an E-Mail even if it appears to be from PayPal, always be skeptical!!!

I receive these kinds of emails pretty much since I started using paypal years ago.

The only paypal emails I pay attention to are emails detailing payments to/from me and policy updates...everything else gets trashed
