People are dumb. I can't believe so many buy into this hurricane hype
I just saw an actualy Drive - Thru plywood window from a Miami home depot.
Home-Depot is loving this and the idiots are buying it up. Suckers.

I'm sure all the victims of the hurricanes appreciate your sympathy.

South Florida was levelled when Andrew came through. My house was damaged a couple weeks ago when Charley came through and now Frances is going to be even worse. I guess it never really happened, it was just some hoax that Home Depot perpetuated to sell plywood.
I feel much better now and won't take any precautions this time. Thanks for splaining it too me Meta.

I don't see why its such a big hype? You only need to buy the plywood like once in a billion years so its not a big deal. You cut it to fit your windows and if a storm is coming takes a few minutes to screw it in. Then afterwards take it off and store it.

Alot of people have homes they haven't lived through a hurricane in yet. S Florida real estate is like Phoenix or SoCal, they are always building, building, building.
So they might not have storm shutters or plywood. I slept through Hurricane Hugo when it came inland in NC a good while back. All I can say is that when it was done, shit sucked. It was 9 days with no power and we had to drive about 10 miles in the wrong direction to get out of the neighborhood due to all the fallen trees blocking the road. Gas stations had no power, so they couldn't pump gas. Restaurants and stuff like that had no power so they couldn't make ice and everything in their freezers started to thaw. I was running a restaurant at the time and had our employees bring bbq grills to work, instead of letting all the food go bad, we bbq'd what we could and served customers. It's not that often that a really big ass hurricane comes ashore but when it does, things get fucked up pretty badly. I was selling custom furniture in NC when Andrew nailed S Florida, and for the next two years a good 60% of our customers were insurance replacements from Andrew's wrath. |
