Affiliate Managers & You - What works for you?
So tomorrow will be one month I'm working as an Affiliate Account Manager at with TopBucks.com - I've been dealing with a good amount of webmasters who have great suggestions and feedback and wanted to pose some of the questions more publicly: What do you expect from your Affiliate Manager? (Tools/Techniques) What type of relationship with your Affiliate Manager fulfills your needs? (limited-open account & contact only when you need them/daily-weekly follow-ups to see where your campaigns are heading - tweaking & so on) What type of updates do you feel benefit you the most? Do you think telephone contact is required? Should it be more one-on-one relationship or do you prefer it to be impersonal? Lastly, what would it take for you to move more traffic to TopBucks.com if you're already an affiliate? If you're not, what would it take to get your traffic? I'd appreciate your feedback on this as I know you all have opinions & suggestions to give me |

Do you contact them directly or do you leave comments on the forms/ICQ & what not? The reason I ask is that I in particular have been sending blanks to people I just add on my ICQ. In both cases it's happened to me, we had to be both online for the person to see what I was writing *until he added me to his ICQ*

Basic_man, would it benefit your bottom dollar though? Do Affiliate Managers HAVE to be HOT? How about a male Affiliate Manager, how would that work?

Personally, I think it's a good thing if you've already established an online relationship - however, I have read here some being offended when called *but there wasn't a relationship established*. Do you think it should be done when their accounts are open or when they've sent some traffic & have already either corresponded via email or chatted through ICQ?

You're correct, working for TopBucks does make it easier to open doors - I can't really say anyone has been tough. I've had people ask if I was a man posing as a woman, I've had people testing my knowledge, I've had people asking me to define what an Affiliate Manager can do for THEM - I don't mind hoops - I just want to be an asset to the affiliates. This is why I'm asking the questions - not because I'm finding resistance. I need to know what else they need to bring traffic to me - the more I have prepared & ready to go, the faster the traffic comes in and gets converted.

So if working with an affiliate manager would give you tools not available to everyone else, that wouldn't interest you? Say I pay for tools that aren't yet available - I'm testing a theory out with my affiliates, you wouldn't want to be advised of this?

i find i spend alot of time talking about my webmasters busines..sort of like a portable MBA, and for the haters i am amthematician so i feel confident giving almost anyone advice. i have consulted some of the large players...what theirnext step wil be or should be..whati thik willhapen to a crtainlaw or rule we are being hit with....plans for increaing their business. corporate structuring etc etc some of my best accounts and the people who stol me away..i only really talked abou their busines.s.it just made sense for them to send heavily to me as they wanted that consiultation..you can be helpful to your affiliates in many ways. after awhile you will pick up all this and then you can pass it onto your webmasters see you in Quebec..tell alli and Q and Kevin i said...hello

 | I can give you a few tips on what affiliates seem to like/dislike: - rep having atleast some technical knowledge (enough to answer some questions...not just say I'll ask tech and get back to you) - quick response time and online availability (I'm talking ICQ here ;p) - when you tell them something will be investigated or fixed, make sure it is - don't lead them on saying 'we dont have it yet, but can do it for you' if you are not going to actually do/add it - don't harass them. following up when its a new account, or they tell you about a new campaign or something is fine. asking them everyday why they aren't sending more traffic yet isn't. That's few of a long list of top of my head

 | The only things I really want out of an affiliate manager are the following: 1) answer questions / handle requests 2) If I'm sending a significant amount of traffic I might like to hear suggestions on how to make the most of the traffic that I am already sending [like suggestions for different types of ads, or perhaps sending traffic to a different tour, etc] (as opposed to an affiliate manager just trying to get you to put up links on more pages 3) occassional messages for ** relevant ** biz opportunities. example: If I send a lot of signups to sponsor X's latina sites, and sponsor X comes out with a new latina site, an email from my rep or icq message would be cool. Also if something is just performing wicked awesome and I'm not promoting it, then this could also warrant a message. But I don't want to be bothered with every new little product that comes out on the market. 4) perhaps an occassional Hello if my rep and I are cool like that Other than that, I don't like being bothered and would rather just handle my work. And above all, unsolicitied messages/calls from sponsors I'm not using is irritating. |

 | I never need any reps and I don't like if somebody calls me on the phone or messages me on ICQ for no reason at all.I know my traffic you don't know more about getting sign ups than me because you are reps and not webmasters so just keep me up to date with senseful newsletters by e-mail and that's it.I just want fast answers when there are any problems with the program or payouts. | A thing that would make me consider pushing TOPBUCKS more would be changing your stats to 1st page clicks. Showing only 2nd page clicks sucks. Besides that it's all good - my current aff. manager at TOPBUCKS is a real cutie and see sure provides me with great service ;) BTW. Sending out an email for each sale would be GREAT! BTW. BTW. You need to show URL parameteres in the refering URLS stats too .. you don't right now .. if I sent a sale from "http://www.isentasale.com?campaign=worldsex" your stats only shows me from "http://www.isentasale.com" .. thats no good - a simple problem for your programmers to fix |
