I thought maybe we could post a few tips for conversions based on traffic. Maybe we all learn a trick or two that'll help lower our ratios. =)

I'll start:
Using J4F, I find that being sure to inform the surfer that he must use an email to gain access lowers your ratios considerably. Escpecially if you are promoting the J4F main site, since it has the email field right on the front page.

What this means:
People aren't too bright...you can tell them free all day long and then send them to the sponsor and they see that it looks like a pay site and they bolt out.

1. Find a few solid recurring programs to lay the foundation for your wealth

It takes a few months to get the recurrs started but regular recurring members can buffer your income if your traffic nose dives or some other slow down happens, plus you'll usually make more in the long run, and you don't have to worry too much (usually) about linking rules

2. Learn traffic management

My conversions are better when using HQ pics. I think when the surfer sees crappy pics, he just hits the back button. When he sees quality pics, he's interested for more, so he will most likely click your banner.

I also think that most surfers think of a gallery as an advertisement and judge the sponsor promoted based on the quality of the pics.

I believe it is the state of mind that you put the surfer in. You can have super duper playboy quality pics, but the average jo shmo will not sighn up if he doesn't think that will make him bust a nut. Yes we are in the business to extract sperm. The galleries I have made the most money off of were the ones I could sit and jerk off to when I needed to. Its all about playing off of the surfer. If he wants to spank but he needs more to blow he will pay his money for the extra 2 or three pics to make him blow. OR her who knows

Lets take us webmasters as an example. We wake up in the morning to see our check sitting in the mailbox. Great. Take it to the bank... cash it.

But then we realise, we've had no fucken breakfast!

So like Joe Surfer hunting for porn, we scuttle off to the supermarket hunting for food. I've said this before... behold, FREE SAMPLES OF COOKIES! I pick up a cookie and take a bite. It tastes like shit. But the nice lady giving out the cookies assures me "if you buy them, they taste much nicer!"

Think I'm going to buy them? FUCK NO!

However, let's say that I go to the supermarket, and find that the free samples are delish. But I can only get so much for free. Solution? I have to buy a box of cookies.

Whole point of this is
bad pics + traffic =huge bandwidth bill
good pics + traffic = $$$

Trust me, when a surfer sees a gallery with 16 blurry 80*80 pixel thumbs, the first thing they think is "ugh!". They hit the back button.

HOWEVER, a surfer comes on into a gallery with 16 crisp 105*140 thumbs leading to very nice quality pics. If you've worked tgps before then you'll know that some guys get a sense of hunger, where they want more and more of those pics. Why? Because they're so good. They surf for free shit for hours on end and it's all the same. But once in a while they'll come to a gallery that will knock them sideways. So most guys are going to jerk off and that's fine. But, AT LEAST 1 of 10,000 guys will be propelled into such a sense of hunger that he WILL signup. All you have to do is convince him to click through to the sponsor. Once he in convinced that the paysite has so much more of this high quality shit then he'll no doubt signup. Turst me, it's tried and tested. That is one aspect of how tgps work.

Don't be tempted into the realms of "fuck the freeloaders" like I was once. I can tell you that as soon as I took that attitude, my productivity dropped at least 3 fold. Fortunately I was able to convert myself back again. For me, my galleries rank above my warning page sites, circle jerk sites and even my avs sites. My galleries are second only to my SE doorway pages.

Rip is 100% correct. Although a webmaster shouldn't completely rely on the single "program type". Diversity is a big factor.

Fact - CyberErotica, Diamond International, RJB Telcom and many other companies are pulling in millions of dollars in pure profit each and every year.

How?

Just out of curiosity...

what percentage of surfers who goto tgps do you think are;

1) Under the age of 18 and/or don't have a credit card

2) Unable to afford the cost of a paysite membership

3) Never intend to buy a paysite membership

?

It would be interesting to do a market study, and if the percentage were say 25%, 30%, 40% or 50% would you, or could you, market your galleries differently
