SPAM - solutions & problems
Ok, i'd love to hear peoples feelings on SPAM. Possible future resolutions, problems, etc.
I for one hate the shit! But is radical anti-spam warfare the answer? Case & Point: (1)A newbie spammer gets himself a bulk-email program, & a e-mail address harvester. (2)He then collects 200million addresses. (3)He then uses an open mail server relay of some big hosting company to send out his 200million mails. What the spammer doesnt realize is that 150million of his addresses are fake, set up dileberately by Anti-Spam fanatics. All 150million e-mails bounce back, completely shutting down the hosting companies Servers & their backbone to the internet, as well as slowing down the isp providing the backbone. The spammer gets tracked down by the FBI & sentenced to 2-months in prison for shutting down a major isp's backbone & a hosting companies servers. In all there is probably a loss of 1-2million dollars. Significant damage to the software companies servers & loss of uptime. The Anti-Spammers Efforts have Won the Day! Or have they? 2-million dollars in damage that cant ever be recovered, some asshole spammer who didn't know what he was doing goes to jail. Is it all worth it? I Personally dont think so. I think there should be a large database set up right now, where you can add your e-mail to a list of "I NEVER WANT UCE". Where the spammers can go & cross-check their list with the database, remove childrens e-mails, & your e-mail. Also ISP's could add their Domain Name prefix to this database, so all e-mails with their domain name are taken off the spammers list. I dunno, just an idea, what do you guys think? To all the spammers & radical spammers out there "GO FUCK YOURSELF!" ------------------
