Hotlinking recip buttons, big deal? Why not htaccess?

I notice that about 80% of webmasters say not to hot link their recip buttons. But only 5% of those protect their button.

Why don't more people protect them?

It's pretty easy to put your button in a folder by itself and then insert an .htaccess file. That way your image has to be saved to their server for use.

Less talk and more protecting is in order!

it's simple all of them know what hotlinkking is, 1/5 is bored to do it,forget etc and the rest don't know how and dont bother to learn ;-)

Yeah, it's funny. The reason I posted this, is because I came across a guy who says if you hot link his button, he'll send you his bandwidth bill.

Maybe he should just pay me to protect his button.
