I'm being dumb... what is this and why do we want to disable it if we are building the page? (never have seen this happen in any pages we build etc)

Smart Tags is MS's way of redirecting your traffic. When the person looks for a particular site it picks up keywords and sends them to a place "they" think the surfer would rather go.

Someone always nows bettert ::sigh::

I'm still being dumb. If the surfer comes to *our* page how can they get redirected to somewhere we don't want them to go?

I guess I'm missing something here which is normal.

It's not implemented yet, and it may never be. My guess (which is as good as anyones) is they won't implement it (except maybe as an opt-in rather than an opt-out) so we won't have to even think about this (I hope).

I wouldn't be so sure that Microsoft would leave out the smart tags. I suppose it would also depend on the ruling of the appeal court on their anti-trust case. But then again, I might be wrong. Anyway, smart tags could be a HUGE money-maker for Microsoft and partners, but they could also be the drop to make the glass spill over and 'cause traditionally loyal Microsoft-products users to leap over to a open source OS. Just my .02.
