I feel slightly better about everything....I knew this rant would help!

But to that person...I do believe you know who you are even if you don't want to admit it to yourself....

I hope that one day someone shows you this same lack of respect, so that you can learn from it. Perhaps at that point and only with matched circumstances, you will see why your word should have been a little more solid.

I am sooo glad so many of you share this opinion!

sorry i was drunk :2 cents:

nah j/k but seriously

Be careful of the words you say,
Keep them short and sweet.
You never know, from day to day,
Which ones you'll have to eat.

However many holy words you read,
However many you speak,
What good will they do you
If you do not act on upon them?--Buddha

My father was the same way. He was from Russia. His handshake was as good as his word. That's how he taught me.

Sorry to hear your rant, Elissa.....hope you get it all straightened out....

pornJester 08-30-2004 04:57 PM

That happens alot in this biz. Especially at conventions where people have had a few drinks.

I never promise anything I can't deliver. If someone wants to do business or cut a deal I tell them straight up what my end of it entails.

that is their loss Ellisa, you atre always a pleasure to deal with! :thumbsup

So I have been losing sleep. Not because of anything really traumatizing but I am just royally frustrated at seeing how some people choose to be....

Here is my problem... I don't like people that go back on their word. I hated it when I was a kid, I hated in high school and I have discovered a whole new dislike for it here in the working world.

When my father did business years ago in Europe it was all done on a handshake and a verbal agreement. None of those men ever broke their word to my father, nor did my father to them. They are still working off of that same hand shake from 26 years ago.

I think it is sad that in this day and age lengthy agreements with every possible loophole covered need to be put together before we can proceed and even then they are not always solid or binding.

So what is my message? My point to this lil' tirade?

If you make a deal with someone verbally or on paper follow it through to the best of your ability. If you are unable to because of changed circumstances sit with the person you made the deal with and try to work around it. Don't make a rash decision that benefits only you at that moment in time. It will come back to bite you in the ass. Particulary in this industry where your business associates are in many cases also your close friends.

Have the backbone to stand by your word and the courage of your convictions and you will always succeed. When you look out only for number one....as important as that is... there are often natural and logical consequences to that decision.

Okay I am done. And I feel better. Thank you.

Ellisa

Awwwwww, I feel for you...I just posted something similar the other day on this board....sick of it. Hope you are good, and full of smiles today!
