My hard drive is full, but how can I tell whats taking up the space?

Ok... my hard drive (Windows 98) is about full, I deleted all my mpg's and mp3 files and programs im not using. But still my hard drive is at 8 ouf 10 GB used. How can I tell whats taking up space on my hard drive? Anybody know. I already went to "C" and sorted by size but it just brings up smaller type files and random folders. Any help is appreciated!

well maybe you have folders loaded with video content or such

go to

start

search or find

all files or folders


search for

*.wmv
*.avi
*.rm

etc that should bring all those files up

Just use windows explorer and right click your main dirs and check the properties. Till you find a dir that has several gigs, open that dir and see what the subdirs are.

First off, get a bigger hard drive.

But in the meantime, go to Start->Search for files or folders

then click on "All Files and Folders"

then click on "What size is it?"

then click on "Large" and hit search.

Thats on windows XP, not sure if it's different in 98. If it is, do this.

Start->Search for files and folders

Type in *.* as your search phrase, then arrange results by size.

I'm still running 98 on this, as long as you only use it for work, its fine. Start asking to much from it (IE, anything more than photoshop and notepad) and it beats your face in with a brick.

You forgot to delete thosse files:

gay * .avi

You will get more space after that ;)

the mac has almost a 1000 gb of hd space and i filled it with wolrk items in 4 months no porn [other than ours] at all... i just got final cut pro 4 HD and i cant wait to recut everything again.
