Internet Explorer...NEVER AGAIN!!

I'm one of those guys that has a hard time changing from programs I'm comfortable with. Last week I decided to try Mozilla Firefox because I'm sick of dealing with all of the IE exploits and so many others had already done it without any complaints.

I was wondering if you also started using the Thunderbird email client. If you have...was it also worth the switch, any benefits?

IE....

yeah, right off the bat, you dont get fucked up by e-mail virus bombs like you do with Lookout Express.

It also has a built in spam filter, so you can cut down on the useless shit you delete each day.

I'm stuck with IE, quite a few programs I use don't work with it at all.

Thunderbird I didn't like, it's preview pane is not as nice as outlook's.

If you want to get rid of spam get Spampal (free) and use it.

Haven't used the tabs too much...I keep closing the whole window instead of the tab. Kind of frustrating..

I've been using the same email app for the last 10 years: Netscape Navigator Version 3.0 Gold (? 1994).

Go ahead and laugh, but I think it's the best! It's so prehistoric that the modern day exploits or bugs can't penetrate it - because it simply ignores any routines it doesn't understand (which is generally anything besides text and basic html).

Even if a malicious hacker could generate something to fuck with it, would he waste his time on a program that is used by only a handful of people in the entire wolrd? Hell, I might be the only one who still uses it. That's something I should look into.

As for a browser, it's not very good. It can't read modern scripts, protocols, etc. Most tables don't even show up.

The WYSIWYG html editor is still rather handy. When I'm really lazy, I just open it up and cut and paste things around. So simple to use.

no other browser has the same compatibility as i.e.

tried both the latest fox and opera tried my top 10 favourites and neither browser could display them all properly.

there are times when i use alternate browsers , but lets face it you cant live without i.e. or plan on not viewing your sites as your customer does

Let me guess, you're running Windows 95. Don't you think its time to test out some new technology? Running programs from a decade ago cause you're paranoid of modern day exploits is silly.

Thunderbird rules because it separates all the email accounts and has a smart spam filter that learns from what you mark as spam.

Firefox also rules.

I use both and switched from IE/Outlook

I actually just finished setting up Thunderbird. SOOOO nice that it won't toss the mail from several accounts into the same inbox.

Such a nice feature in-fact, I just imported my email and sorted into the proper folders.

No, no, no. You got it all wrong. I stay very up on technology and software... it's just that I became so comfortable with Navigator Gold for email that I never stopped using it.

Exactly. You have to know what your site looks like to the majority of surfers or if everything even works on it. Those of you getting errors on other browsers is because they are unable to display something designed in IE. These alternate browsers aren't immune to viruses or exploits; give it enough time, as they get more popular virus writers will turn their attentions to them.

I have been using Maxthon.

I read a post wher fletch mentioed it and gave it a shot. Works great. Excellent tabbed viewing.

The issues with opera and or FF not being able to load some pages disappears with this browser.

Give it a shot!
