So how much do you program reps make?

The more I think about it, the more it seems like the perfect job... just sitting around a bit boardwhori... ehh, promoting your program on the boards, chatting with affiliates on icq, giving people tips to convert more.
So does it pay well? Or are you people only making slightly more than a typical intern at a newspaper, and doing the work mainly to build up a network and knowledge of the biz?

Good Question.

Currently we are in the process of becoming a public traded company and should have our symbol by November of this year.

Here is what we offer our reps.

That's a bit vague... "per join", does that mean per join brought in by webmasters brought in by the sales rep in question, per join programwide, per webmaster join brought by the sales rep ( on that last one)?

I think sales rep gets $1.75 for each join that the webmasters make.

If you have 20 accounts under you and each of those accounts send 10 joins per day, you would be entitled to 200 joins per day at $1.75 each.

Thats still vague. Does accounts under you mean signup under a ref code, or accounts that you provide support for?

Sorry it is vagued to you but I guess you need to understand what a sales rep is as well as their duties and responsibilities.

It is a little more than just a ref code.

LOL its not vague just to me, you never specified. I have been a sales rep and know exactly what it means, but every company uses a different definition. I know several that only count what comes in under the ref code, and dont give a shit about support thats provided.

So, do you guys have the normal 10% webmaster referral bonus and something lik $35-40 payout per join?

If so, promoting your program to other webmasters as a normal webmaster instead of as a sales rep would actually be more profitable.

And if you don't offer the 10% for normal webmaster referrals, a sales rep would probably still be doing better by promoting another program that does have that.

Also, is their no compensation whatsoever for sales reps to spend time helping out affiliates, establishing the program's reputation, etc?
You know, the things that establish your program so that when webmasters go looking for new sponsors, they simply type in the name of your program?

If you know how to webmaster, being a sales rep is a waste of your time in most cases.

"Get 10 people to make 10 sales a day and you can be rich like me too!"

you know how hard it would be to get newbies (10 of them) to actually make 2 sales let alone 10 a day.

You don't offer any kind of base salary?

How do you compensate your affiliate reps for time and energy they spend on affiliates that aren't in their downline?

Do you expect your affiliate reps to create content packs and other tools to help your affiliates? If so, how do you compensate for other affiliate reps using tools that said affiliate rep created for their own downline?

And just for the record, getting affiliates to pull consistent sales is very difficult unless you know big fish. However, big fish require big hooks...

what he said

however its more beneficial to push a ref code if your a board whore and take the 10% .. 2.50 for every $25.00 signup beats $1.75

lol.. there's is thousands of sale reps on this board flying a sponsor in their sig.. if the overall average of their monthly earnings from their sig is above $50 I,ll be suprised.. To have 100 sales under you / day .. you better have some nice friends to hit up on ICQ..

As long as industry-wide exclusivity isn't part of the deal (i.e. you are allowed to do online work in non-competing fields), being a sales rep could be a nice addition to normal webmaster work.
Webmaster work can get rather boring every once in a while, and human contact (even if it is through boards/icq) can really lighten that up. If you can get that and get paid for it, too, that's pretty nice

I'm not about to explain our compensation plan to include salaries and how our system works. Someone asked a question of how much do program reps make. I posted a basic sheet showing what a rep can make with us. Salary is on a case by case basis.

It's a nice addition but it's also a royal pain in the ass. Working with people isn't a problem, it's the hours that create problems, especially if you're a webmaster. You're online all the time so people are asking you questions all the time, asking for help all the time, bothering you all the time. Whenever you want to work on your own projects, you get distracted because somebody needs help with links or has questions.

If you're only selling something (content, scripts, hosting, etc), doing sales is great and not much of a bother at all. But when you're responsible for helping people send traffic, you tend to develop 1 too many headaches. But that's just me, you could be completely different.

Most of the full time sales reps I know are only available during business hours. They aren't webmasters. I think that setup is much better.

A sales rep isn't the same as 10% referrals. You can pick which sales rep you are associated with on some programs no matter who referred you. I would imagine they pay their reps a % on all webmasters they represent regardless of who referred them.

By the way, I've had several people do 10 joins per day in my downline over the years when I was being like a 3rd party sales rep. 90% of those people were not webmasters before I showed them how to make money.

A sales rep doesn't refer every person they represent.

There's a big difference. I don't think most of you webmasters realize that affiliate reps are responsible for much more than sitting on a board and answering ICQs all day. There's a lot of little work that must be done, work that takes a fair amount of time.

you know how hard it would be to get newbies (10 of them) to actually make 2 sales let alone 10 a day.

If newbies can buy a decent template from a professional designer, crop + insert content, and manage to post 1 gallery/day without being blacklisted, I would bet they do more than 10 joins/day with his program.

Thats not true, some programs consider a sales rep is just someone referring webmasters for a % and providing support for free.

no, that I know.... I was referring to his payment plan... based on how many webmasters you have under you.. which that.. is no different than programs paying you a % for the sales webmasters under you make...

Like I said, I'm not about to explain our compensation plan or how our system works to you especially in this forum.

You seem to want to try to slam me here and throw your numbers around real quick, but let me just say, you are way off.

Dude, 10 sales a day * $30 a sale * 30 days a month = $9000 a month. Newbies don't make that easily just by posting a gallery a day. Look at that thread where programs post their top moneymakers for realistic references.

Alex I don't think he's trying to slam you, nor was I. This thread was about what sales reps make, you posted a list of what your sales reps make, then when asked questions about it you seem to get defensive. I don't quite understand?

By the way, is your program back up yet? Have been waiting to check out the interracial sites, Matt has been teasing me...

Nobody's trying to attack you, it's just that you posted a link to that page in response to the question "how much do sales reps make?". Going simply by that page, things look pretty bleak for your sales reps.

I'm sure you have a way better payment system for them, it just looked kinda funny if one only looked at that page.

Well those programs are just sugar coating being a referring webmaster. If I were looking for a sales job I would point that out to them 5 seconds before I told em to F off. ;)

I didn't say the newbie designed the gallery. I said he bought a pro designed template, from a guy like FletchXXX.

All they do is plug-in content from Alex and post away.

Now, most newbies will NEVER do this - because they
1) dont know their ass from their elbow
2) wont invest $100 - $200 in templates, and roll the dice on good hosting.

But if you check his program, you'll see some real nice sites. The money is there, waiting to be made.
