    Ali Al-Sistani

I hope this man can really settle Najaf down. He seems to be at least somewhat reasonable. He also seems to best represent the "Iraqi Will" such that it is now. I realize there are deep divides between Shiate and Suni thus making one Cleric's views not truley representitive of all of Iraq. This man is however a Grand Ayattolah and there are only 6 or 7 other clerics in all of Islam ranked as highly as him.

Somebody needed to slap around Al-Sadr.

        Al-Sadr
I'm not sure I think "better". He's certainly got more experience, appears to have more moderate attitutdes and maybe most importantly commands more respect from his supporters.

Al-Sadr is a very Junior Cleric. His father was well loved but as I understand it Al-Sadr himself has some very radical ideas.

They only eat kosher, no need to clean your teeth afterwards.

If the USA put him in a good situation he will most likely fail soon ... if he's got in that position by himself then good for him

Ali Al-Sistani is a Grand Ayattolah ... That's a very, very senior rank of Islam Cleric. He's survived Saddam amonst other things. He's less than friendly with the United States, and most probably not their pawn.
