How do I fix ?? Norton Security On, Doesnt Allow Images to Load..

Ive seen this probelm for years now really. Where some people post images on GFY and they wont load for ya to see em unless you turn norton off.

Well with the growth of TGP thumbsites, (including mine) im notcing that some sites the images wont load unless you turn norton security off. Some of my sites are having this problem..

How do you fix this. ANd its strange, its not the graphics, just the thumbs...

don't know exactly what preferences you can set in norton security but if it's possible then DISABLE blocking http referrer

norton security is blocking http referres and when someones site has bad htaccess (which doesnt allow empty referrer) then you can't see images on this site

      hope it helps

I believe Norton sometimes not just removes the http_referer, but actually replaces it with a bogus one. Obviously, that doesn't go too well with the typical .htaccess.

Especially when the site owner doesn't know how to use hotlink protection correctly.

Most have abilities for you to customize and set Http_referer sending per domain. On mine it's blocked by default but I customized it for traffic cash gold to be able to send http_referer

Why do people continually use things that take over their computer and strip things?

isnt that what we dont want as webmasters? restrictions and borders to hold us back?!?!

their are much simpler (and free things) out there to use

check zonealarm.com for a great firewall
http://www.grisoft.com has avg antivirus whichs is also free and pretty good to use

try the other things that are out there before jumping to something that costs money and screws you in the end

              hope this helps,

most browsers and firewalls also have a way for you to customize which http_refers that you want to allow and not allow

but I dont like things that take over your pc like AOL and Norton and don't inform you of all their restrictions that they do

Dump Norton. It causes more problems than it's worth.

best is not to use norton at all. it got worse by the year. the 2002 version was still acceptable.
it causes nothing but problems and is the most exploited program. you barely get rid of it. it writes itself all over the place and best is mostly a fresh windows install.
Norton bought atguard and made norton internet security out of it at a way higher pricepoint.

if you can get a copy of the atguard 3.x you are better of. does pretty much the same without all the memory and resource hogging. there u can also set individual settings per website like referals or stopping flash or java based per individual site. works like a charm to block also unwanted flash ads (hint hint) from certain websites. they just will not be loaded.

I also stopped using norton antivirus and switched to avast! its free and much better in both virus and bad script/trojan code detection.

                                not really.

Im trying to figure out how to present my images to someone using Norton, not a replacement for norton.. Im not shoping for security programs, im trying to configure my site so it works well for people who have those systems, which is by defalut already installed in many new PC's as of late.

I had a similar problem but with ZoneAlarm. I tried BlackIce and it wasn't that great, but I eventually got Sygate Firewall and I love it.
