I don't think just 8 domains with pages interlinked will hurt you but if you have 100's of domains all linking back to eachother than you will probably get banned. Especially if they're all in one ip range.

I run 3700 interlinked TGPs.
I will not tell you how to do it without get banned, but it's possible and it works. Anyways, most probably you will get banned. Google and all other search engines move themselves based on math algorythms. Study the algorythm and you will make bank with your sites. Of course I am not so stupid to tell you how to interlink thousands of sites without getting a fast bann... at least unless you are ready to pay lots of $$$.

And by the way, IP ranges have nothing to do with that unless you have choosen bad IP range neighbourhood (if you know the bad IP neighbourhoods)... otherwise you can host several thousands of sites on the same IP range without penalizations.
