In your example there are 49 posts on the first page and 50 on the rest.
On the first 50 there are the initial post and 49 replies.
You got post and replies mixed up.

Dude. In my options, I have it saying "50 posts per page." Some people have it set to forty and some have it on 100.

Default is 50.

That means there are 50 posts per page (if you're in default view), so the last post on any page is 50th, 100th, 150th, etc.....
