cyanide is a rapidly acting, potentially deadly chemical that can exist in various forms.
Cyanide can be a colorless gas, such as hydrogen cyanide (HCN) or cyanogen chloride (CNCl), or a crystal form such as sodium cyanide (NaCN) or potassium cyanide (KCN).
Cyanide sometimes is described as having a ?bitter almond? smell, but it does not always give off an odor, and not everyone can detect this odor.
Cyanide is also known by the military designations AC (for hydrogen cyanide) and CK (for cyanogen chloride).

cyanide harms the brain and heart, and may cause coma and death.

Unusual circumstances concerning a two-vehicle accident brought the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force to investigate at an Omaha intersection Monday morning.

Following the collision between two cars at 40th and Leavenworth, one of the drivers became violently ill after ingesting a white, powdery substance that was in his car. Those who came in contact with the substance, a police officer, firefighter, and the two drivers were subjected to decontamination procedures and taken to the hospital. The man who ingested the substance remains hospitalized. His condition is not being released. The other three were treated and released. The substance irritated the skin and caused burning to nasal passages.

The Nebraska Medical Center identified the substance as cyanuric chloride, which is a type of tear gas according to the UNO Chemistry Department. "It is a heavy, acid-based substance," said Omaha Fire Department Batt. Chief Rob Trucha. "We are attempting to verify the substance so we can react to it appropriately."

Crews remain at the scene, spraying down the street and nearby vehicles.

Wonder if it was a normal car that crashed or some sort of vehicle that was supposed to be carrying it?

What ever he was up to he sure wanted to get away. After the crash he ran up to the lady and offered her $1000 to not call the cops. After she refused he then offered $2000 but the lady had already made the call.

A 25-year-old man involved in a traffic accident near 40th and Leavenworth Streets ingests a toxic chemical, leading to a hazardous materials cleanup that shut down the area for more than five hours. Three other people are exposed to the substance and are taken to the hospital. Members of the Omaha-based joint terrorism task force secured the cars and cleaned the area
