Starbucks Franchises?

Any of you guys own one? What was the startup cost?

There is one close to here that has taken off because a big chain store moved in next door. I figure the guy got the franchise pretty cheaply.

I might be wrong, but the last time I heard Starbucks wasn't a franchise chain.

Starbucks are all corporate owned.

My brother-in-law and I are looking at "Bad Ass Coffee" franchise at the moment.

We've got a spot right across from a Starbucks that we're scouting out.

Am I the only one that doesn't like starbucks coffee?

It's way too strong for my liking. They need to serve a weaker coffee for those of us that don't like our coffee to get up and walk out of the room on it's own.

Starbucks is top, I love it. Nothing better then those Frappuchinos during the summer time, however you spell it.

Yes, Starbucks is not a publicly traded company. Not sure how starbucks does its coffee shops.

you are not alone, I don't like them either. I hate the rush rush society and their take away coffee's.

There is only one true coffee, Peet's. It is the only coffee selected by Gourmet magazine as one of 50 American Coulinary Treasures. Anyone from Berkeley will tell you.

yeah, you can't buy one. i looked into it a couple of years ago. the only ones that are owned outside of their company are some that are on University campuses.

It's too bad. The one at this particular location got the lease cheaply as it used to be a slow area and then had a Future Shop and a Shoppers Drug Mart move in right next door.

Considering he is selling hot water at a huge markup it makes it look like a pretty solid venture.

We've done quite a bit of looking into this.

We think that this is the best alternative if someone is looking for a chain coffee franchise.

http://badasscoffee.com/Franchise.htm

Low startup costs. National advertising. They provide training and just about anything else you can think off.

They'll even set you up with the bank and get the ball rolling.

They're not. The only way you can get one is if you own a PRIME piece of land. Like an airport kiosk or something, and even then good luck.

starbucks is a goldmine - it's unbelievable they did it all interally. for us Canadians, another goldmine is Tim Horton's (something else i looked into recently) - avg gross per franchise is in the multi-millions per year (one of the best if not the best franchises available in Canada)... however they want you to be SERIOUSLY involved with the day to day running of the operation. you go to a tim horton's school, and have to be at your shop, running things constantly. to me, that's a huge turn off, regardless of the solid numbers.

My family owns some Seattle's Best coffe shops on the West coast and in Mazatlan, Mexico. Works good to own something like that in Mexico, cause you can go down there every few weeks for vacation and write it off as a business expense.

Tim Horton's has just started to take off here in Western NY. There are at least 15 here in town in a matter of 2 years or so.

#2 on our list.

I think most of their branches are company owned, but there are few that are franchise.

Starbucks took a big step back this summer when they changed the menu.

I miss my mocha coconut frappucino...
