Why? That's not a big difference. And to say a 17-year-old is not an adult and an 18-year-old is is just ridiculous. It's an arbitrary line, and it hasn't even been around that long. 14-16 used to be old enough to marry (Not long ago in the U.S)! and a single 17-year-old was assumed to be an "old maid"... i.e. either too ugly or too bitchy to catch a husband.

How the hell do people stay friends with their ex?

When you break up with someone because you don't get along, how does it work just being friends? I have never understood this.

I know a guy who keeps in touch with every single ex girlfriend he has ever had. When he vacations near them he always hooks up with them for lunch. Yet he goes through girlfriends every year or two after some huge drama and usually tells everyone they are getting married three about months before they break up. Its very strange.
