What would you say is the minimum megapixels to have for a digital camera for good quality?

mines 3.5 and its fine. i dont see why you need more unless you are shooting for professional quality.

I would say 5 is a good starting point and there are alot of cheap good quality 5 and 6 megapixels around for $500 and under.
