USA basketball SUCKS!!!!!!!!
Dream Team 1992
Michael Jordan Magic Johnson Larry Bird Scottie Pippen Charles Barkley Patrick Ewing David Robinson Karl Malone John Stockton Chris Mullin Clyde Drexler Christian Laettner (ha ha) Thats the list of the 1992 team that won by 46 points a game on average. I'm soooooo tired of hearing how much better the international players are now. The biggest difference is all american players try to be the same. The GM's are partially responsible for this. Everyone wants to be Tim Duncan or Kevin Garnett. Thats fucking lame. You need more than one big agile dominate monkey down low. None of the fuckers on todays dream team can land a pull up jumper at 13 feet. WTF IS THAT ? The 10 retired people from 1992 dream team would beat the current dream team today!

Jefferson sucks, he had a good game today, but the whole team has no outside shooting like these European teams.

i hate to say this but a number of NBA players selected don't even deserved to play in the lineup. It's a shame the US Basketball has taken for granted its rival countries which is proving to be more far superior compared to a couple of years ago.

Bird (F) Jordan(G) Barkley(F) Stockton(G) Magic(G, later F) Oscar Robertson was the best Center ever. Patrick Ewing is probably 3rd or 4th though.

But now we remember just how important those skills are when it counts in a close game against players that can actually shoot the ball. Too much focus on dunking and showing off rather than hardcore fundamentals. You don't have to make it look pretty to win games, just be able to put the ball into the hoop from from mid range. US based basketball really seems to have degraded to a single skill sport at the moment. |

they are really blowing this time around. i think they've still got a chance to make it into the medal round, although it seems doubtful that they will win gold.

They just need to learn and/or remember how to play a well rounded game. No team can beat them on the inside but they really have to gear up for shooting from the outside, a skill that seems underrated or under-represented right now.
A lesson they're learning today... the hard embarrasing way. It reminds me of the way the corporate world has always worked. Most of the highest paid people can't do their job as well as many of their underlings (and much less paid) underlings could if given the chance. |

The US picked the wrong group of players. This bunch of players can't shoot the three or defend and they sure can't play as a team. Bottomline poor player selection for internationally basketball.

Let's not forget...
These aren't all the players picked. There were several picked that were scared and wanted to count their money back in the states. |

There are very few names worth mentioning that got left off. Such as Kobe, he can pull up from mid range better than anyone, but he is in a court batle about rape. I'm sure we didn't want to send that image and even though he isn't going to be convicted we should have enough talent to make it without him. Also, he would have refused no doubt. Alan Houston, would probably beat everyone in the NBA in a game of horse, but he is recovering. Ray Allen can shoot but he refused. Thats only 3 names and there are no more obvious choices. That means USA BASKETBALL SUCKS NOW!!!!!!!!!

A similar situation almost occured when the NBA played against a US College team some years back when Duncan was in college. He was playing center I think against Robinson if I remember right. US college basketball is altogether different. The plays are faster, have to be fast on your feet, shots from inside and outside. Maybe that's why I've enjoyed March Madness for the past few years better than the NBA. I haven't watched any basketball fora bout 2 years and am surprised at the showing in the Olympics.

dont forget a lot of players did not want to play because of terrorism.
the basketball team we have over there is not currently all the best USA players, they are all very good but look at 1st team all NBA and 2nd Team All NBA, a lot of players arent over there. |

Once they've made it to the NBA and they have huge contracts there is no reason for them to play as hard or improve. I think we're seeing the result of a bunch of players that have allowed their skills to give way because they already have gauranteed money. It's like Shawn Kemp, who guy was amazing until he got signed for big money, then he didn't do anything afterwards. The current setup breeds this. The college kids are still after the bread, waiting for their big break so they play hard non-stop. Fundamentals are missing. They're more interested in looking sweet while dunking than shooting. The mailman, Karl Malone, is a classic example of a boring ugly style, but guess what, the dude always sinks the ball from mid range and long range. You just don't get many players like that any more. Part of the fault is the coaching but it's probably hard to force a multi-million dollar playerto play hard and run drills when he's making more than you are. |
