If a white guy just has to use the term he should only do it amongst friends who are OK with it. It's pretty rude to be shouting it out in a crowded public place such as an airport where you are almost guaranteed to upset someone.

In my nigga statement, it is drawing on our socially acceptable dual usage as a slang term for buddy. "Get your own sandwich, buddy" and "get your own sandwich, nigga" should be the same thing.
