    Domain pre-registration: Who does it best?

    What domain company is the fastest at grabbing pre-registered domains for you? There's one I REALLY want but I'm afraid it'll go right away.

                  snapnames has worked for me, I've also used enom
                  I post on GFY so that when people ask me what I do,
                  I can tell them that I work with the mentally retarded.

                      I use Pool with alot of success... they have a shit load of registrars to get the name

                          Thanks, guys! I just signed up with SnapNames for it. I didn't see the "pool" link first.. maybe wouldn't hurt to hedge my bets, though.

                                  There is so much competition these days, that if the domain does get captured and goes to auction, you will end up buying it for maximum retail price. If its a decent name, make sure you're ready to drop a few thousand or more.

                                      Um, this wasn't the one I was looking for... but I just registered sxjs.com for $8.65, and they charged me an additional $60 in fees on top of it (rather dishonestly, I think!)

                                      Did I get ripped? Should I charge back? Those fees were not explicitly listed on the form I approved.

                                                  be careful placing a backorder on domains you don't want, because if you make a typo, some services WILL register it for $60. i.e. SNAPNAMES. so be careful.
