Just saw "Collateral"...........my two cents......

This was one terrific movie! Michael Mann is a great director. Cruise was great as was Jamie Foxx; Foxx's performance really surprised me. He really did well. Great story. Excellent direction. Tight action. This was a great movie! A must see for the year.

Saw this movie last week and it's been growing on me ever since. When I just finished seeing it I liked it, but wasnt overly impressed, but now its growing on me even more, worth your $10 imho.

I expected him to go over the top at times but you could tell Michael Mann had control of the ship............he gave a restrained and tight performance.............him and Cruise were excellent.........the movie was fuckin' aces. I loved the stream of consciousness shots of the nite cab-life.........reminiscent of "Taxi Driver"...........this was a marvelous movie.

The last good one I saw was "Bourne Supremacy" but this one was far better, imo, and I really liked "Bourne".

But this one? "Collateral" was the shit man.

Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Agree with you about the acting; the ending? I disagree with you. I won't give anything away so no spoilers here but I get tired of those typical Hollywood endings where everything is solved and wrapped up in a ribbon and bow. I really liked this movie. It was good to see Cruise step out of his hero role and into some darkness. And Foxx? Wow. This guy can act.

I was finally able to go catch up with it, and i liked it a lot as well. Jamie Foxx was the big surprise because i knew Cruise can do his thing. I give it two thumbs up.

Good movie, Tom Cruise's best performance ever. He was amazing.

Favorite lines:

Max: Hey! Hey, he fell on the cab! I think he's dead.
Vincent: Good guess.
Max: You... you killed him?
Vincent: No, I shot him. The bullets and the fall killed him.

Vincent: Hey Homey, that my briefcase.

can't go wrong with this one. its the anti-AVP, as "Alien vs. Predator" was stupid and a piece of shit. glad i just saw it as it took the stench away from seeing AVP over the weekend.

Collateral= way up

AVP=

The scene when Max has his hands tied to the steering wheel and both Vincent and Max talk to the "cab boss" is hilarious.

Btw, what was the deal with the wolves when they're on the way to club Fever? I don't understand that scene at all.

You shouldn't be surprised that Foxx was so good. He was dead-on as the trainer in "Ali" and he's supposed to be even better as the lead in the new Ray Charles movie.

Max didn't just drive over it..........he let it go........has to do with survival, their situations mirrored one another..........also being the lone wolf, and also that here they are in the middle of this mess and bang, out of nowhere appears this creature of nature......i thought it was a great touch

Anybody else think that Tom Cruise's role was a Richard Gere type role?

I think Cruise did a better job than Gere could of done though...

have to agree on both counts.......it was good to see Cruise take on something so malevolent.........his hero roles were getting predictable and boring

its destined to be viewed as a cult classic

also, don't be surprised around Oscar time..........Jamie Foxx may be up for both best supporting actor (Collateral) and best actor (his ray charles movie), which i hear he's dynamite in

LOL!

"Adam Sandler was considered for the role of Max before Jamie Foxx was cast."

Yup, what I like about Rottentomatoes is that it's not just critics from the Press. It's also from the average Joe.

Have to agree with that big-time. Beats listening to old cranks like Ebert who are overly-tired, grumpy, and worse, biased. If Ebert likes the politics of a movie, despite how bad it is, he gives it a good rating, and vice versa. This is a man who should have packed it in a long time ago.
