Im looking for a portable, small digital audio recorder that is USB compatible (at least), has a mic jack, and isnt a POS.

What im trying to do is record different environment sounds for a pc game im working on.... things like birds chirping, or myself walking on different surfaces, etc. Ive tried this with small digital recorders you can get at places like Best Buy, and my recordings came out like shit, naturally. I tried using my sony mini-dv cam but that came out shitty too.

any ideas, suggestions, equip i should check out? i need these recordings crispity fuckin clear. crispity. Maybe with some type of range option so i can filter out distant noises, or close ones, b4 i record...?

price doesnt matter.

You might want to contact a company that rents out equipment to films and rent some really high end stuff with the huge fuzzy mic and shit.
